Class Insecta Order : Ephemeroptera The order constitutes only 0.04% of total species of Insects of Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Hubbard (1984), while revising the genus Povilla from the whole world, described a species from Andaman. So far this is the only endemic species known from Andaman Islands. Suborder : Schistonota Superfamily : Ephemeroidea Family : POLYMITARCIDAE 1. Povillia (Povillia) andamanensis Hubbard Habitat : Tropical and subtropical rain forests. Distribution : India : Andaman Islands. Status : Information deficient. Order : Odonata In all 59 species belonging to 37 genera pertaining to 11 families are so far reported from Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Of these, 44 and 34 species are recorded from Andaman Islands and Nicobar islands respectively. Only 11 species are endemic to these islands.
