The ox was the strongest <strong>and</strong> most versatile animal<br />

among the <strong>Hebrew</strong>s livestock. The ox was used to pull<br />

carts or a plow, it provided meat <strong>and</strong> leather <strong>and</strong> it was<br />

one of the animals used in sacrifices.<br />

This animal was the "all" powerful <strong>and</strong> "all" versatile<br />

animal of the <strong>Hebrew</strong>s.<br />

<strong>Hebrew</strong> name: al<br />

The original name is the same as the English equivalent.<br />

The <strong>Hebrew</strong> word "al" means "ox" <strong>and</strong> is the original<br />

name of this letter. This is the only <strong>Hebrew</strong> letter used as<br />
