Appendix B – Learn <strong>Ancient</strong> <strong>Hebrew</strong><br />

The original pictographic script of "early <strong>Hebrew</strong>".<br />

English letter<br />

Each <strong>Hebrew</strong> letter will be associated with the English<br />

letter that derived from it. By being able to see the<br />

English letter within the <strong>Hebrew</strong>, the sound of the letter<br />

will more easily be remembered. The English letter will<br />

be oriented to a form closer resemblance of the <strong>Hebrew</strong><br />

letter.<br />

English name<br />

The name of the letter will be learned with an English<br />

word. Many times a word from one culture will be<br />

slightly changed when adopted by another culture. There<br />

are certain letters that are commonly exchanged for<br />

another as listed below.<br />

<strong>Hebrew</strong> name<br />

Aspirates - s, sh, ts, x, z<br />

Gutturals - g, c, ch, h, k, q<br />

Lip letters - b, f, p, v, w<br />

Tooth letters - d, t<br />

Liquids - l, r<br />

Nasals - m, n<br />

Vowels - a, e, i, o, u<br />
