If you don’t mind catering to your sinful indulgences, here is your perfect destination.
Poetic and dreamy, I feel like Alice taken down the
proverbial rabbit hole and into a fanciful place
where pleasure is serious business. A lady of
leisure for two hours, yes I can afford that. And at $39
per person, so can my best girlfriends!
The girls and I had been procrastinating about our promised
catch up for months before we saw the announcement of High
Tea at The Sebel Resort & Spa Hawkesbury Valley. This messy
web of missed calls and late text replies laced with guilt led
us to agree we weren’t waiting on an excuse to see each other,
just a good reason!
That good reason became a great afternoon filled with long
overdue real-life status updates and deliciously tasty morsels,
served with the utmost respect for the aristocratic pastime that
is High Tea. It was a truly dignified affair; from the drive in set
against an awe-inspiring backdrop of the Blue Mountains and
the zen effect of the lake, to the welcoming manner with which
we were treated from booking to ‘Bill, please’ and, leaving the
best to last, the food! Oh, The Food!

You know how you subconsciously decide in what order to
devour the offerings laid before you for the maximum pleasure?
Well…the best was last, and first, and in the middle! The light
fluffiness of the scones, the delicate mayonnaise on the gourmet
sandwiches, the sinfully decadent chocolate, the comforting
reassurance of a decent English Breakfast…it all moved me to
a sentiment more attune to an indiscriminate mother of 7 who
claims to “truly love them all equally!”.
The tranquil water fountains seemed to have a flow-on effect
resulting in caring efficient staff, a comfortable and inviting
atmosphere and the harmonious combinations of sweet and
savoury – if one were of the New Age school of thought, one might
even say Feng Shui has been mastered here.
