Kurrajong Village
Relax and enjoy the tranquillity of the natural bush surrounding
as you share the experience with our native lyrebirds.
Kurrajong, the Aboriginal name for ‘shade
tree’, which grew in abundance in the town,
was settled around 1790. In earlier times the
seeds of the trees were roasted as a coffee
substitute.
Prior to 1823, attempts to cross the Blue
Mountains had been unsuccessful until
Archibald Bell followed some Aboriginal
women who had been kidnapped by the
Springwood tribe.
Kurrajong Trails & Cottages
Spring is in the air, time to pack the kids, push bikes + the
dog & head for the hills.
Kurrajong Trails, only 1.5 to 2 hours drive from our
Northern Beaches home seems a world away—no shops,
no neighbours, no noise, only the sounds of birds—
until we arrive & our children clamour onto the jumbo
trampoline & commence their raucous play.
The usual suspects will join us for a weekend of games,
bushwalking, canoeing & barbequing followed by relaxing
evenings in the shed enjoying a moderate consumption
of alcohol, once our exhausted offspring are sleeping
peacefully in the cottages. Don’t forget the views, just
spectacular. Our group of 24 books the place out, giving
us a safe environment & sole use of all facilities.
The huge entertainment shed has a kitchen, barbeque &
eating areas inside or out, making communal meals easy.
There is a great fireplace if we want to use it, plus ready
chopped wood.
The relaxed arrival & departure times give us 2 full days
to enjoy our bush escape.
