We then travel to the only Australian Sake Brewery (Japanese Rice Wine), learn how Sake is made and tour through the factory. We then head to the historic Hawkesbury district for lunch in the town of Windsor. Next to the heritage listed winery of “Tizzana” to hear from the owner about his wine making process and the history of the heritage listed building. Then we cross over the beautiful Hawkesbury River in a car ferry onto our last winery for the day, “Talai Estate”. This unique winery has been built from the ground up by the owner as an out of control hobby. Learn of his passion for wine and also about the Predinosaur footprints found in the rock shelf whilst the cellar was being created. Hawkesbury Sketchbook Tour Saturday, 27 October 2012 Hawkesbury Valley Heritage Tours will be running a relaxed, full day coach tour through the most historic areas of the Hawkesbury in conjunction with artist Greg Hansell’s annual studio exhibition. Included will be a tour of the Peninsula area of Windsor, viewing Tebbutt’s Observatory, Windsor Court House, the Toll House and North Street cottages, dating from c1840s. The tour will head to Pitt Town, driving through the area of some of the first settlement farms (1794), then to Ebenezer Church and Wilberforce before we travel back to Windsor for a driving tour, viewing St Matthew’s Anglican Church and cemetery, the exteriors of the Bell Inn, St Matthew’s Catholic Church, historic house Crescentville and other historic areas of Windsor. After travelling to Richmond to view the exteriors of several historic buildings in Richmond, the tour travels through the Richmond Lowlands farming area. Morning tea, wine-tasting, lunch, coach and full commentary included. The tour concludes with a visit to Greg Hansell’s studio and garden in Windsor at 5.00pm, where we will enjoy a tour and a well-earned glass of wine and a talk with the artist. 9.30am to 5.00pm.
