library or classroom. For furthur assistance, Accelerated Reader
CD
® and Reading Counts! ® quiz numbers are listed next to titles in the index
(pages 111-120).
RL = Reading Level
The Listening Library Reading Level is determined by the Fry Readability Scale and the Spache and Dale-Chall formulas. The
reading level noted is a grade level. For example, a reading level of 6.4 means the book is appropriate for a sixth grader in the fourth
month of the school year. NA means that a defined reading level is not currently available for the title or that it is a collection of
books that have a variety of reading levels.
IL = Interest Levels
The Listening Library Interest Levels expand listening possibilities beyond that of a specific reading level and take into account
story content that can be enjoyed by students both younger and older. The interest levels are noted as a range of grades.
LL = Lexile Level
Lexile Framework for Reading, developed by MetaMetrics, is a scientific approach to reading measurement that matches reader
ability to text difficulty on the same scale. Lexile Levels do not translate specifically to grade levels. For more information on
the Lexile Framework for Reading visit their website at www.lexile.com. NA means that a defined Lexile Level is not currently
available for this title or that it is a collection of books that have a variety of Lexile Levels.
