iii. Do not allow the student to use the trimmer for attitude changes. However,<br />

after any attitude change the aircraft should be re-trimmed as required.<br />

iv. The procedure for the flight controls as discussed during effect of controls was<br />

– Change, Check, Hold and Trim. For straight and level flight and subsequent<br />

exercise where specific attitude changes are required the following procedure<br />

must be executed correctly – Change, Hold, Trim, Adjust, Check and Trim.<br />

v. Students have difficulty in determining whether a pre-selected marker is dead<br />

ahead of the aircraft or not. The instructor must ensure that the student is<br />

sitting up straight in his seat before aligning the correct point on the glare<br />

shield with the prescribed marker ahead of the aircraft on the horizon.<br />

vi. Inadequate lookout may be the result of over-concentration on accuracy.<br />

Encourage the student to strike a sensible balance.<br />

3. Discuss the student’s actual faults<br />

For each fault the instructor must indicate:<br />

i. The symptoms of the fault.<br />

ii. The cause of the fault.<br />

iii. The result the fault could have led to.<br />

iv. The corrective action required.<br />
