TURNING
DEFINITION: A turn is a change of direction at a specified angle of bank, in level flight, climbing or descending, whilst in
balance at a constant rate. (Medium level turns 30° AOB; Climbing & Descending turns 15° AOB; steep
turns 45° + AOB)
HOW IT APPLIES TO FLYING:
1) To change direction in flight
2) In the circuit
3) Navigation turning points
4) Advanced turning – steep and maximum rate turns – minimum rate turns
5) Aerobatics
6) Instrument flying at night and in letdowns.
