TURNING<br />

DEFINITION: A turn is a change of direction at a specified angle of bank, in level flight, climbing or descending, whilst in<br />

balance at a constant rate. (Medium level turns 30° AOB; Climbing & Descending turns 15° AOB; steep<br />

turns 45° + AOB)<br />

HOW IT APPLIES TO FLYING:<br />

1) To change direction in flight<br />

2) In the circuit<br />

3) Navigation turning points<br />

4) Advanced turning – steep and maximum rate turns – minimum rate turns<br />

5) Aerobatics<br />

6) Instrument flying at night and in letdowns.<br />
