1. Briefly recap on the exercise and emphasise the important aspects applicable to:-<br />

i. Speed control use of brakes.<br />

ii. Directional control.<br />

iii. Weathercocking.<br />

iv. Effect of wind and correct use of the flight controls.<br />

v. Factors affecting the speed of the aircraft during taxying.<br />

vi. Engine handling.<br />

2. Discuss the common faults students usually make.<br />

i. Students tend to taxy too fast, especially as they gain confidence.<br />

ii. Many students are careless about look out, and clearing the blind spot created<br />

by the nose of the aircraft (tail wheel). Stress look out before turning while<br />

taxying.<br />

iii. Incorrect speed control due to the use of power against brakes.<br />

iv. Feet incorrectly positioned on the rudder pedals.<br />

v. Difficulty in the use of differential braking, and different power required when<br />

taxying over grass and tar.<br />

vi. Releasing the brakes before closing the throttle prior commencing the taxy.<br />

vii. Harsh braking when stopping the aircraft.<br />

viii. Forgetting to check the windsock during taxying to confirm that he is taxying to<br />

the correct runway, and for correct positioning of the flight controls.<br />

ix. Over activeness on rudders for directional control causing excessive snaking.<br />

x. Emphasise to taxy in centre of taxyway – how to keep nose wheel on taxy-line.<br />

xi. Incorrect position of controls when taxying in strong wind.<br />
