AIRMANSHIP<br />

i. Carry out fire fighting drill in methodical manner.<br />

ii. Advise ATC if possible.<br />

iii. Prepare for possible forced landing or emergency landing.<br />

iv. Assess cause of engine or cabin fire.<br />

ENGINE CONSIDERATIONS<br />

i. Cause of engine fire.<br />

ii. Use of engine fire extinguisher (if installed).<br />

iii. Induction or exhaust fire – assess if possible.<br />

iv. Do not restart after engine fire.<br />

c. SIMILARITY TO PREVIOUS EXERCISES<br />

i. Forced landing and precautionary landing procedures.<br />

ii. Straight glides and gliding turns.<br />

iii. Glide approach and landing.<br />

iv. Side slipping.<br />

v. Knowledge and use of checklists.<br />

d. DE-BRIEFING AFTER FLIGHT<br />

i. Briefly recap on the exercise and emphasise the important aspects applicable to:<br />

a. The correct procedures when a fire has started.<br />

b. Evacuation procedures.<br />

c. The use of fire extinguishers.<br />

ii. Discuss the common faults students usually make:<br />

a. Students may forget recognised procedures.<br />

b. They tend to rush and in the process forget certain checklist items.<br />

iii. Discuss the student’s actual faults<br />

For each fault the instructor must indicate:<br />

a. The symptoms of the fault.<br />

b. The cause of the fault.<br />

c. The result the fault could have led to.<br />

d. The corrective action required.<br />

e. BRIEFLY DISCUSS THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE NEXT LESSON<br />
