<strong>of</strong> Kinge Edward, the fourth after the Conqueste, the seconde [1463].<br />

sherriffes <strong>of</strong> our c<strong>it</strong>tie <strong>of</strong> Chester.<br />
We lete you to w<strong>it</strong>e that we have understood that by a supplicacon<br />
presented to us on behalfe <strong>of</strong> our welbeloved the alderman,<br />
stewards and brethren <strong>of</strong> the craft <strong>of</strong> bakers w<strong>it</strong>hin our c<strong>it</strong>tie <strong>of</strong><br />
Chester, that Wheras <strong>it</strong> hath been ordeined and used tyme out <strong>of</strong><br />
mynd [&c., as in the above civic charter <strong>of</strong> 1463]<br />

And that the bakers soe adm<strong>it</strong>ted owe their sute unto our milnes<br />
there called dee milnes and be bounden to grind their comes there<br />
and in noe other : place<br />
And whereas certain people are using the craft w<strong>it</strong>hout being<br />
adm<strong>it</strong>ted as bakers [&c., as in the charter].<br />

<strong>of</strong> Edward, Prince <strong>of</strong> Wales and Earl <strong>of</strong> Chester,<br />
29 November, 18<br />
before his murder,<br />
Edward IV. (1479), four years<br />
as Edward V., in the Tower <strong>of</strong><br />
London. Seventeen years later<br />
granted by Prince Arthur :—<br />

We have inspected a ct-rtain ordinance <strong>of</strong> the alderman, stewards<br />
and brethren <strong>of</strong> the craft <strong>of</strong> bakers in our c<strong>it</strong>y <strong>of</strong> Chester framed for<br />
the convenie ce and benef<strong>it</strong> <strong>of</strong> the said craft and <strong>of</strong> our mills there<br />
