Baltimore <strong>National</strong> Heritage Area<br />

Projects that would utilize <strong>NPS</strong> Heritage Partnership Funding in 2013:<br />

• Development of the Federal Hill/Sharp Leadenhall Trail.<br />

• Implementation of War of 1812-related projects for the bicentennial.<br />

• Implementation of comprehensive management plan.<br />

Blue Ridge <strong>National</strong> Heritage Area<br />

Projects that would utilize <strong>NPS</strong> Heritage Partnership Funding in 2013:<br />

• Continued website development and other interpretive and marketing efforts for the Blue Ridge<br />

Music Trails.<br />

• Improved coordination of partner efforts to preserve farmland, increase farm profitability, and<br />

improve land access for the next generation of farmers.<br />

• Hospitality training for front-line tourism personnel.<br />

• Continued marketing of the region as a heritage tourism destination.<br />

• Continued partnership with the <strong>National</strong> <strong>Park</strong> <strong>Service</strong> to provide visitor services at the Blue Ridge<br />

<strong>Park</strong>way Visitor Center in Asheville, NC.<br />

Cache La Poudre River Corridor<br />

Projects that would utilize <strong>NPS</strong> Heritage Partnership Funding in 2013:<br />

• Will continue to work on completion of management plan and early implementation projects.<br />

Cane River <strong>National</strong> Heritage Area<br />

Projects that would utilize <strong>NPS</strong> Heritage Partnership Funding in 2013:<br />

• Planning and developing implementation strategies for the commemoration of the<br />

Sesquicentennial of the Civil War and Red River Campaign; possible projects include a traveling<br />

exhibit and symposium through partnerships with Louisiana State Museum System and Cane<br />

River Creole <strong>National</strong> Historical <strong>Park</strong>.<br />

• Developing and coordinating the commemoration of the tercentennial of the founding of<br />

Natchitoches to include a web-based exhibit highlighting the cultural and historical significance of<br />

the area. Possible partners include international agencies through French and Spanish diplomatic<br />

contacts.<br />

• Renovation and adaptive reuse of the Texas and Pacific Railroad Depot in partnership with the<br />

City of Natchitoches.<br />

• Continuation of dialogues and planning in the renovation and adaptive reuse of the Old Bermuda<br />

Bridge as a pedestrian walkway linking Cane River Creole <strong>National</strong> Historical <strong>Park</strong> with a public<br />

recreation area in partnership with Natchitoches Parish Police Jury, the <strong>National</strong> Center for the<br />

Preservation Technology and Training, and Cane River Creole <strong>National</strong> Historical <strong>Park</strong>.<br />

• Continuation in the planning process for the preservation and adaptive reuse of the Old<br />

Natchitoches Parish Courthouse in partnership with Natchitoches Parish Police Jury, Louisiana<br />

Department of Environmental Quality, and the U.S. Environmental Protective Agency.<br />

• Funding a Heritage Ranger to assist with Cane River Creole <strong>National</strong> Historical <strong>Park</strong> tours,<br />

special events and public relations.<br />

Champlain Valley <strong>National</strong> Heritage Partnership<br />

Projects that would utilize <strong>NPS</strong> Heritage Partnership Funding in 2013:<br />

• Continuation of wayside exhibit design program, annual international heritage summit, regional<br />

stakeholder coordination, a grants program, and other annual programs.<br />

• Local grants for Champlain Valley <strong>National</strong> Heritage Partnership plan implementation are planned<br />

for 2013, as a means to accomplish immediate heritage stewardship goals, and also to further<br />

develop the sustainability of partner organizations, as called for in the management plan.<br />
