6.3.2 Quality Assurance <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> LRT Model Inputs<br />

The input control files for <strong>the</strong> five LRT dispersion models were examined to assure that <strong>the</strong><br />

intended model options were used in each <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> simulations.<br />

6.4 MODEL PERFORMANCE EVALUATION<br />

The model performance <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> five LRT dispersion models are evaluated using statistical<br />

measures as used in <strong>the</strong> ATMES‐II study (Mosca et al., 1998) <strong>and</strong> recommended by DATEM<br />

(Draxler, Heffter <strong>and</strong> Rolph, 2002). Graphical comparisons are generated <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> predicted <strong>and</strong><br />

observed tracer spatial distributions.<br />

6.4.1 Statistical Model Performance <strong>Evaluation</strong><br />

The spatial, temporal <strong>and</strong> global model performance <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> five LRT models is evaluated using<br />

<strong>the</strong> statistical model performance metrics described in Section 2.4.<br />
