NOTE: These represent only a few of the many cases which the <strong>Office</strong> of Jefferson County<br />

<strong>Commonwealth</strong>'s Attorney is handling. If you have any comments, or need further information<br />

accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until or unless found guilty. The enclosed court<br />

actions are subject to change.<br />

According to the Rules of Criminal Procedure (RCr 3.02, 3.05, and 8.01) the arraignment of<br />

individuals whose case has been submitted directly to the grand jury shall take place as reasonably soon<br />

as possible. If you are interested in a case that has been submitted directly to the grand jury, then please<br />

contact the court division in which it has been assigned to obtain the time and date of the arraignment.<br />

Arraignment<br />

Yasmani Rivera-Amaros, 13CR0031 (Murder, Criminal Attempt Murder, Assault in the First<br />

Degree, Robbery in the First Degree 2 counts) Yasmani Rivera-Amoros (DOB 2/20/1992), is charged<br />

with the December 29, 2012 shooting and robbery of Eston Graves and Jelani Haynes at 141 E. Kingston<br />

Avenue. Arraignment has already occurred, and bond has been set at $500,000. A pretrial conference is<br />

scheduled for February 22, 2013 at 8:30 a.m. in Jefferson Circuit Court, Division 9. Katherine A. Kingren<br />

is the prosecutor.<br />

Stephen L. Thompson, Jr., 13CR0049 (Murder, Robbery in the First Degree, Wanton<br />

Endangerment in the First Degree (5 counts) Mr. Thompson is charged with the Christmas Eve, 2012,<br />

murder of Dante Newsome outside of 4003 West Market Street during a robbery from which Mr.<br />

Newsome was trying to flee. Arraignment has already occurred and bond has been set at $500,000. A<br />

Pre-trial Conference has been set on February 11, 2013, at 9:30 in Division 13. Elizabeth Jones Brown is<br />

the prosecutor.<br />

Troy Gaines Jr (DOB 10/28/90) & Shaundrell Robinson (DOB 7/20/79), 13CR0051 (Robbery<br />

in the First Degree - 22 COUNTS). Mr. Gaines and Mr. Robinson are charged with twenty two separate


armed robberies of local businesses between the dates of November 28, 2012 and <strong>Jan</strong>uary 5, 2013. At the<br />

time Mr. Gaines allegedly committed these armed robberies he was out after posting a $1,000 bond in<br />

Jefferson District Court on other felony and misdemeanor charges of Fleeing and Evading Police First<br />

Degree, DUI, Leaving the Scene of an Accident and Criminal Mischief in the First Degree. Arraignment<br />

was held on the new robbery charges on <strong>Jan</strong>uary 17, 2013 in Division 12 and bond was set at 100,000 for<br />

both defendants. A Pre-Trial Conference has been scheduled for February 21, at 9:30 A.M. in Division<br />

12. Leland Hulbert is the prosecutor.<br />

Tyler Garrison (DOB 11/28/91), Takayla Love (DOB 12/6/89), Darnell Moore (DOB 6/6/90)<br />

& Clarence Rice, Jr. (DOB 9/3/90), 13CR0079 (ALL: Complicity to Robbery in the First Degree,<br />

Wanton Endangerment in the First Degree [2 cts]; LOVE, MOORE & RICE – Complicity to Possession of<br />

a Handgun by a Convicted Felon; RICE – Possession of Cocaine with a Firearm; MOORE & RICE –<br />

Persistent Felony Offender in the Second Degree). The defendants are charged in connection with a<br />

business armed robbery of the Speedway at 4340 Cane Run Road on or about <strong>Jan</strong>uary 8, 2013. The<br />

defendants allegedly robbed the Speedway and then fired at witnesses trying to follow them. The<br />

defendants were followed and arrested hours later staying in apartments in the 4500 block of Broadleaf<br />

Ct. All Defendants are currently being held on 50,000 bonds. Arraignment is scheduled for Tuesday,<br />

<strong>Jan</strong>uary 22, at 10:00 A.M. in Division 4. Leland Hulbert is the prosecutor.<br />

James T. Mason, 12CR3879 (Possession of Matter Portraying a Sexual Performance by a Minor [3<br />

counts], Tampering With Physical Evidence). Mr. Mason (DOB 4/15/1972) is charged with possession of<br />

child pornography. At the time of the offense, Mr. Mason was employed with the PRP Fire Department.<br />

Arraignment is scheduled for Monday, <strong>Jan</strong>uary 22, 2013 at 1:00pm in Division 8. Sara Farmer is the<br />

prosecutor.<br />

Robert Manley, 13CR0054 (Robbery in the First Degree [4 cts], Robbery in the Second Degree,<br />

Fraudulent Use of Credit Card Over $500). Mr. Manley (DOB 9/22/63) is charged in connection with<br />

four bank robberies occurring between the dates of December 20 and December 31, 2012. The banks<br />

allegedly robbed are PNC Bank at 3910 Taylorsville Road, Chase Bank at 8120 New LaGrange Road,<br />

BB&T Bank at 10403 Dixie Highway and River City Bank at 2501 Bardstown Road. Mr. Manley allegedly<br />

claimed to have explosives outside of each bank and was going to use them if he was not given<br />

money. Mr. Manley also allegedly took a victim’s credit card by force and used it to buy items over<br />

$500. He is currently being held on a 250,000 bond. Arraignment is scheduled for Tuesday, <strong>Jan</strong>uary 22,<br />

at 2:30 P.M. in Division 11. Leland Hulbert is the prosecutor.<br />

Hearing<br />

Jennifer Hack, 12CR3497 (Complicity to Murder, Complicity to Theft By Unlawful Taking Over $500,<br />

and Complicity to Tampering With Physical Evidence). On or about October 13, 2012, Ms. Hack (DOB<br />

08/07/84), acting in complicity with co-defendant Darrell Bryan (DOB 03/<strong>18</strong>/79), allegedly struck the<br />

victim, Mickel Kimbley, in the head. The victim later died on October 15, 2012, as a result of brain injuries<br />

sustained during the assault. The defendants then returned to the scene hours after the attack occurred<br />

and sold the victim's vehicle to a tow truck driver for cash. A Bond Hearing is scheduled for Ms. Hack on<br />

Tuesday, <strong>Jan</strong>uary 22, at 8:30 A.M. in Division 8.Nick Mudd is the prosecutor.<br />

Carlos Lamont Ordway, 07CR3193 (Robbery 1st Degree, Assault 1st Degree [2 Counts], Persistent<br />

Felony Offender 1st Degree) Mr. Ordway (DOB 6/21/81) is charged in connection with the August 6,<br />

2007 robbery of the Chase Bank in the 4000 block of Poplar Level Road. Two bank employees were<br />

wounded during the robbery. A Status Hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, <strong>Jan</strong>uary 22, 2013, at 9:15 a.m.<br />

in Division 2. Erin White is the prosecutor.<br />

Dewayne L. Durrett, 12CR1507 (Murder, Possession of Handgun by A Convicted Felon, Receiving<br />

Stolen Property Over $500, Tampering with Physical Evidence, Persistent Felony Offender 2 nd<br />

Degree) Mr. Durrett (DOB 2/3/81) is charged in connection with the shooting death of Dana M. Loud on<br />

or about May 7, 2012. A Competency Hearing has been scheduled for Wednesday, <strong>Jan</strong>uary 23, 2013, at<br />

1:15 p.m. in Division 5. Alice Jones is the prosecutor.


Kendra Wilson (DOB 8/2/79) 12CR1529, Norman B. Williams, 12CR1709 (ALL: Attempted<br />

Murder, Robbery First Degree, Assault 1 st Degree; WILSON: Intimidating a Participant in the Legal<br />

Process) Brandon D. Bartee (DOB 11/14/90) and William A. O’Bannon (DOB 12/1/88) are codefendants<br />

that have pled guilty. The two remaining defendants have been charged in connection with<br />

the Robbery and Attempted Murder of James Mallory on April 10, 2012 near 1 st and Broadway. A Hearing<br />

is scheduled in that case for Wednesday, <strong>Jan</strong>uary 23, 2013, at 9:00 a.m. in Division 9. Erin White is the<br />

prosecutor.<br />

Carlos Vasquez-Montalvo, 12CR1710 (Kidnapping, Rape in the First Degree, Rape in the Third<br />

Degree, Tampering with Physical Evidence [2 cts]). Mr. Vasquez-Montalvo (DOB 4/23/90) is charged<br />

with a kidnapping and rape of a fifteen-year-old girl that he met in a parking lot after an online chat<br />

application session on her cell phone. Mr. Vazquez was later arrested in Winchester, Kentucky. Oral<br />

argument on the suppression briefs is scheduled for Wednesday, <strong>Jan</strong>uary 23, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. in<br />

Division 13. Lisa Cartier-Giroux is the prosecutor.<br />

Joseph R. Banis (DOB 2/4/72) / Jeffery S. Mundt (DOB 2/20/72), 10CR<strong>18</strong>67 (BOTH: Murder,<br />

Robbery 1 st Degree, Tampering with Physical Evidence; BANIS: Burglary 1 st Degree, Possession of a<br />

Forged Instrument, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia) The<br />

defendants are charged in connection with the June 17, 2010 incident resulting in discovery of the<br />

remains of James Carroll buried in the basement of residence in the 1400 block of S. 4 th Street. A Hearing<br />

has been scheduled for Friday, <strong>Jan</strong>uary 25, 2013, at 1:00 in Division 3 on motions in anticipation of Mr.<br />

Banis’ trial. Ryane Conroy is the prosecutor.<br />

Pre-trial conference<br />

Kari N. Nally (DOB 7/20/77), Tamara Sullivan (DOB 12/11/73 ), Vanessa Burba (DOB<br />

2/6/55), Kendria Gates (DOB 5/8/79), Joyce Grubbs (DOB 2/12/70), 12CR1707 (Complicity to<br />

Trafficking in a Controlled Substance Nally [12 Counts], Burba [6 cts], Sullivan [9 cts], Gates and Grubbs<br />

one count each; Complicity to Obtaining or Attempting to Obtain a Controlled Substance by Fraud or<br />

Deceit Dr. Nally [24 cts]). Dr. Nally is charged in connection with writing prescriptions for the codefendants,<br />

the co-defendants would then fill the prescriptions and return half of the filled prescriptions<br />

to Dr. Nally. The other half of the filled prescription would be used by the co-defendants. A Pre-Trial<br />

conference is scheduled for Tuesday, <strong>Jan</strong>uary 22, 2013, at 8:30 a.m. in Division 7. John Balenovich is the<br />

prosecutor.<br />

Aaron D. Basham, 10CR335 (Rape First Degree Victim Under 12, Sexual Abuse First Degree Victim<br />

Under 12, Persistent Felony Offender First Degree) Mr. Basham (DOB 10/5/67) is charged in connection<br />

with sexually abusing a seven year old female between 12/01/07 - 02/29/08. The victim disclosed these<br />

incidents occurred more than one time. Mr. Basham was a co-worker of the victim's parents and was<br />

living with the victim and her family at the time of abuse. A Pre-Trial conference is scheduled for Tuesday,<br />

<strong>Jan</strong>uary 22, 2013, at 9:15 a.m. in Division 13. Sara Farmer is the prosecutor.<br />

Donteze Stephenson (DOB 1/23/83) & Dominic Harrison (DOB 5/30/83), 12CR2939<br />

(STEPHENSON: Murder, Tampering With Physical Evidence, HARRISON: Facilitation to Murder) At<br />

about 4:00 A.M. on November 6, 2004, Jahara Watters was shot several times and was transported to<br />

University Hospital where he died as a result of his injuries. Witness statements have now allegedly tied<br />

these two defendants to the gun used in the crime. A Pre-Trial Conference is scheduled for Tuesday,<br />

<strong>Jan</strong>uary 22, 2013, at 9:30 a.m. in Division 7. Alice Jones is the prosecutor.<br />

Robert W. Long, Jr., 10CR0333 (Murder, Tampering with Physical Evidence, Abuse of a Corpse,<br />

Menacing [2 Counts], Persistent Felony Offender 2 nd Degree) Mr. Long (DOB 9/7/65) is charged in<br />

connection with the <strong>Jan</strong>uary 27, 2010 death of a his 6 week old son whose body was found in a vehicle<br />

parked in the 5500 block of Ridgecrest Road. A Pre-Trial Conference is scheduled for Tuesday, <strong>Jan</strong>uary<br />

22, 2013, at 1:30 p.m. in Division 11. Christie Foster is the prosecutor.<br />

Trent Blye (DOB 6/24/85), Joseph Davis (DOB 7/<strong>18</strong>/84), Brittany Elder (DOB 1/26/84),<br />

12CR2404 (Complicity to Kidnapping, Robbery First Degree, Theft by Unlawful Taking over $500,


Wanton Endangerment First Degree) Defendants are charged in relation to an assault that occurred on<br />

August 3, 2012, until the early morning hours of August 4, 2012, in the parking lot of the Circle K at 14000<br />

Taylorsville Road. The victim was then locked in the trunk of his own vehicle as the defendants drove<br />

around for several house. A Pre-Trial Conference is scheduled for Wednesday, <strong>Jan</strong>uary 23, 2013, at 8:45<br />

a.m. in Division 9. Bill Burt is the prosecutor.<br />

Terry Holbert, 12CR1068 (Wanton Endangerment First Degree [13 cts], Fleesing or Evading Police<br />

First Degree [2 cts], Criminal Mischief 1 st , DUI 1 st , Persistent Felony Offender in the First Degree) Mr.<br />

Holbert (DOB 8/29/66) has been charged in connection with fleeing from police in Louisville during a<br />

traffic stop, proceeding to drive into Indiana and then returning to Kentucky. While fleeing, he attempted<br />

to strike an officer’s vehicle several times, and then crashed into a roadblock and struck a civilian’s vehicle<br />

before coming to a stop. A Pre-Trial Conference is scheduled for Wednesday, <strong>Jan</strong>uary 23, 2013, at 9:00<br />

a.m. in Division 12. Kristi Gray is the prosecutor.<br />

<strong>Jan</strong>eaka N. Conn (DOB 5/22/79) / Anquanette M. Davis (DOB 2/21/78), 11CR2966 (Murder)<br />

The defendants are charged in connection with the September 22, 2005 shooting death of Kendra Boykin<br />

which occurred at her home on Grand Ave. A Pre-Trial Conference is scheduled for Wednesday, <strong>Jan</strong>uary<br />

23, 2013, at 9:00 a.m. in Division 10. Ryane Conroy is the prosecutor.<br />

O’Neal Demetrius Swint, 12CR0003 (Murder, Assault 1 st Degree, Wanton Endangerment 1 st<br />

Degree). Mr. Swint (DOB 9/19/82) is charged in connection with the December 19, 2011 shooting death<br />

of Qasin Ahmed near the 200 block of Alger Ave. Arraignment was previously held <strong>Jan</strong>uary 5, 2012 and a<br />

bond was set at 500,000. A Pre-Trial Status Conference is scheduled for Wednesday, <strong>Jan</strong>uary 23, 2013, at<br />

9:45 a.m. in Division 10. William Burt is the prosecutor.<br />

Aaron Millner, 12CR0269 (Kidnapping – with Serious Physical Injury, Criminal Attempt Murder,<br />

Assault First Degree – Domestic Violence, Intimidating a Witness in the Legal Process, Tampering with<br />

Physical Evidence) Mr. Millner (DOB 2/10/91) is charged in connection with a <strong>Jan</strong>uary 19, 2012, stabbing<br />

and kidnapping of the mother of his child. The victim allegedly begged the defendant to take her to the<br />

hospital for over two hours. The Defendant eventually drove the victim to the hospital and told them that<br />

she was mugged. A Pre-Trial Conference is scheduled for Thursday, <strong>Jan</strong>uary 24, 2013, at 8:30 a.m. in<br />

Division 8. Erin McKenzie is the prosecutor.<br />

Robert Lee Matthews, 12CR2395 (Murder) Mr. Matthews (DOB 9/29/1946) is charged in<br />

connection with an incident occurring Sunday August 5, 2012 at approximately 5:00 P.M. LMPD officers<br />

responded to a reported stabbing in the 200 block of West Kenton Street. Upon arrival officers located a<br />

victim, identified as Anthony "Glenn" Maupin, who had sustained a stab wound to his chest. The victim<br />

was transported to University of Louisville Hospital for treatment and subsequently died as a result of his<br />

injuries. A Pre-Trial Conference is scheduled for Thursday, <strong>Jan</strong>uary 24, 2013, at 8:45 a.m. in Division<br />

13. Jessica Moore is the prosecutor.<br />

Darryl D. Broaddus, 12CR2606 (Cruelty to Animals First Degree [3 cts], Cruelty to Animals Second<br />

Degree [5 cts], Unauthorized Dispensing of a Drug Legend, Trafficking in a Controlled Substance) Mr.<br />

Broaddus (DOB 12/16/58) is charged in connection with owning at least three dogs that were allowed to<br />

fight for pleasure or profit. Numerous animals with injuries and dog fighting paraphernalia was found at<br />

his home. Arraignment is scheduled for Thursday, <strong>Jan</strong>uary 24, 2013, at 9:15 in Division 2. Josh<br />

Schneider is the prosecutor.<br />

Bobby Aldridge (06/19/1982) and Katherine M. Saling (DOB 1/28/1978), 12CR3753<br />

(Complicity to Robbery in the First Degree [2 cts].) On or about November 17, 2012 the defendants went<br />

to the Las Gorditas at 4756 Bardstown. Rd. The defendants acted as if they were going to order food and<br />

then stuck a gun in the face of the juvenile cashier. They received approximately $2000.00 in business<br />

cash. A Pre-Trial conference has been scheduled for <strong>Jan</strong>uary 24, 2013 at 9:15 a.m. in Division 11. Kristi<br />

Gray is the prosecutor.<br />

William Truss, 12CR1417 (Murder [2 cts]) Mr. Truss (DOB 6/14/68) is charged in connection with the<br />

April 29, 1012, shooting deaths of two victims in a vehicle from which an officer witnessed the defendant


leaving. A Pre-Trial Conference is scheduled for Thursday, <strong>Jan</strong>uary 24, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. in Division<br />

9. Frank Dahl is the prosecutor.<br />

Clarence A. Stiff, 10CR3960 (Murder [2 Counts], Burglary, Wanton Endangerment, Possession of a<br />

Handgun by a Convicted Felon, Tampering with Physical Evidence) Mr. Stiff (DOB 12/17/81) is charged<br />

in connection with the December 20, 2010 shooting deaths of Jason Matthews and Tracey Hernandez at a<br />

home in the 5300 block of Halsey Court. A Pre-Trial Conference is scheduled for Thursday, <strong>Jan</strong>uary 24,<br />

2013, at 10:30 a.m. in Division 10. Elizabeth Jones Brown and Leland Hulbert are the prosecutors.<br />

Tyrone Poe, Jr. (DOB 12/21/88) & Dayshawn Talbert (DOB 3/5/83), 11CR0622 (Murder) The<br />

defendants are charged in connection with the May 1, 2009 shooting death of David Cantrell on Gaulbert<br />

Avenue between 25 th and Cypress streets. A Pre-Trial Conference is scheduled for Thursday, <strong>Jan</strong>uary 24,<br />

2013, at 1:45 p.m. in Division 5. Ryane Conroy is the prosecutor.<br />

David Franklin Gurley, Jr., 12CR3480 (Murder, DUI, Wanton Endangerment First Degree [4 cts],<br />

Criminal Mischief First Degree [2 cts], No Insurance) Mr. Gurley (DOB 5/2/60) on or about November 4,<br />

2012, allegedly struck and killed a motorcyclist and endangered other drivers while he was driving under<br />

the influence of alcohol on Dixie Highway. A Pre-Trial Conference is scheduled for Friday, <strong>Jan</strong>uary 25 at<br />

9:00 a.m. in Division 1. Elizabeth Jones Brown is the prosecutor.<br />

James Mallory (DOB 9/5/82), Cannon C. Pendergrass (DOB 12/14/89), Anthony Hogan Jr<br />

(DOB 6/16/93), 12CR1317 (Complicity to Murder and Burglary in the First Degree) The defendants<br />

are charged in connection with the shooting death of 15 year-old Gregory Holt at his home on or about<br />

April1 11, 2012 in the 1600 block of Clover Street. A Pre-Trial Conference is scheduled for Friday, <strong>Jan</strong>uary<br />

25 at 9:00 a.m. in Division 12. Ryane Conroy is the prosecutor.<br />

Adrian T. Adkins,12CR1446 (Assault in the Second Degree, Assault in the Third Degree (Police<br />

<strong>Office</strong>r) [2 cts], Wanton Endangerment 1 st Degree [2 cts], Criminal Mischief in the First Degree, Fleeing or<br />

Evading Police in the First Degree, Assault in the 4 th Degree, DUI, Resisting Arrest, Criminal Mischief in<br />

the Second Degree, Failure to Stop and Render Aid, No Insurance, Failure to Give Right Away) Mr.<br />

Adkins is charged with driving, while under the influence of alcohol, around stopped police vehicles that<br />

were blocking the roadway due to a previous collision on KY841 on April 29, 2012, and then striking a<br />

LMPD <strong>Office</strong>r and vehicles that were in the roadway from the previous collision, before attempting to flee<br />

on foot. A Pre-Trial Conference is scheduled for Friday, <strong>Jan</strong>uary 25 at 9:00 a.m. in Division 8. Kristi<br />

Gray is the prosecutor.<br />

Trial<br />

Chauncy D. Rhodes, 11CR3344 (Rape 1st Degree, Sodomy 1 st Degree) Mr. Rhodes (DOB 1/20/88), is<br />

charged in connection with allegations of sexually abusing a female victim while she was asleep on or<br />

about October 29, 2011 at a gathering near the 200 block of West Burnett Ave. Mr. Rhodes was a<br />

probationary recruit for LMPD at the time of the incident. A trial is tentatively set for Tuesday, <strong>Jan</strong>uary<br />

22, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. in Division 6. Erin White is the prosecutor.<br />
