NOVA KAMPANJA
ZAMIRISALA MI DONKAFICA, ŠEFE!
Pored kafe nezaboravnog mirisa i ukusa, Doncafé je još jednom
obradovao svoje potrošače, gledaoce kraj malih ekrana i, pre
svega, ljubitelje dobrih reklama. Naime, na televizijskim stanicama od
nedavno se emituju nove reklame brenda Doncafé. Ovog puta, glavna
pevač Miroslav Ilić i napoznatija supervizorka u Srbiji Milka Canić.
vodu i sebi i svojim bližnjima prirede nezaboravno iskustvo uz miris
Donkafice.
NEW CAMPAIGN
BOSS, I SMELL DONCAFE!
In addition to coffee of unforgettable taste and smell, once more, Doncafé
offered a treat to its consumers, TV viewers and, most of all, fans of good
commercials. Specifically, as of recently, TV stations have been airing new
commercials for Doncafé brand. This time the leading role, one of a nervous
director at the shooting of a Doncafé commercial, is played by the famous member
of The Kuguars theater troupe, actor Dejan Matić - Mata. In his attempt to bring
to life the challenges faced by the directors when they smell Doncafé coffee on
the set, Mata was assisted by Jova Radovanović, comedian and former member
of “The Young Seven“. Very soon, similar roles will be played by Cune Gojković,
singer most famous for the hit song “Make me Some Coffee Dear“, Miroslav
Ilić, singer, and Milka Canić, the most famous Serbian quiz show supervisor.
Interestingly, this series of new Doncafé commercials was shot by Arri
Alexa motion picture camera, currently one of the best digital cameras.
In anticipation of the new adventures from the set of Doncafé commercial,
viewers are left with no choice but to put the kettle on and treat themselves
and their loved ones with another unforgettable experience, with the smell of
Doncafé coffee.
Projekat grejanja na briket kafene plevice kompanije Strauss Adriatic, nagrađen
je prestižnim priznanjem poslovnog portala „eKapija“ Aurea 2012
u kategoriji inovativnosti.
projekta i nagradili ga.
NAGRADA
PROJEKAT KOMPANIJE STRAUSS ADRIATIC
NAJINOVATIVNIJI
Tim kompanije Strauss Adriatic
Strauss Adriatic.
sprovedenim u laboratorijama Instituta Vinča i Mašinskog fakulteta. Takvo
do 90 hiljada evra. Time će investicija odobrena na 8. Operativnom sastanku
ostvarenih u Srbiji, biće primenjen i u drugim zemljama u kojima Strauss
Group posluje.
The project of heating using coffee chaff briquettes is a unique project in the
region and is based on using waste from coffee processing, the so-called coffee
chaff, for heating 6000m2 of the production and administrative facilities
of Strauss Adriatic. This company, renowned for the Doncafé brand and coffee
products, generates around 140t of coffee chaff annually. Searching for ways
to reuse that waste, it was discovered that its heating power was exceptionally
high, as confirmed by testing in the labs of the Vinča Institute and the Faculty
of Mechanical Engineering. This discovery motivated the project of a heating
room using coffee chaff briquettes. As the annual volume of chaff is sufficient
for around three months of heating, the heating room, in cooperation with the
Innovation Centre of the Faculty of mechanical Engineering and Professor
Mirko Komatina, is designed to use wood briquettes as well.
This type of heating brings numerous advantages. As a classic example of biomass,
coffee chaff releases products of burning which are fully environmentally
friendly and cause no pollution effect. In that manner, the total annual
CO2 emission from Strauss Adriatic will be reduced by 14%, or 341t. In addition
to the environmental aspect, this project saves between EUR65,000 to
EUR90,000 annually. As a result, the investment approved at the 8th Operational
Meeting of Strauss Group in Israel will provide return in less than a year
and a half. This type of heating, which makes Strauss Adriatic independent
from the energy market, was put in use on November 15, 2011, and after outstanding
results achieved in Serbia, it will be applied in other countries where
Strauss Group operates as well.
by painting cups and the fact that we can thank them in this
manner makes our pleasure even greater. We hope that the
equipment we have donated will improve the conditions in which
these children grow up,” said Olivera Jokić, Public Relations
Kompanija Strauss osmu godinu zaredom
BDICoface, u saradnji sa ekonomskim dnevnikom The Marker.
poželjan poslodavac, vas zaposlene u kompaniji Strauss
smatramo našom najvećom vrednošću i glavnim partnerima u
našem poslovnom uspehu.
Strauss Group je zauzela 10. mesto među
svim kompanijama na listi „100 najboljih kompanija
za zaposlenje u Izraelu“, i 1. mesto, uz značajnu prednost
u odnosu na drugoplasiranog, među proizvođačima
hrane i pića.
kompanije:
Intel Izrael, Elektroprivreda Izraela, Teva, HP Izrael, Majkrosoft
Izrael, Hapoalim banka, Gugl Izrael, Leumi banka and Amdoks.
poslovanja, sigurnost zaposlenja, radni odnosi, zarade i
We are proud that even in such a challenging year,
Strauss was ranked among the top 10 companies to work for
in Israel, in an annual survey conducted by BDICoface, in
collaboration with The Marker economic daily.
As an organization that has set a goal to become an employer
of choice, we regard you, Strauss people, as our major asset
and main partners in our business success.
Strauss Group was ranked 10th among all companies
on the “100 Best Companies to Work For in Israel”
list, and 1st, by a considerable gap, among the
Food & Beverage companies.
Sharing the Top 10 ranking with us were: Intel Israel,
Israel Electricity Company, Teva, HP Israel, Microsoft Israel,
Bank Hapoalim, Google Israel, Bank Leumi and Amdocs.
This ranking is compiled by company employees as well as
external parties who are asked to consider various parameters,
such as the company’s robustness, sound employment,
labor relations, salary and benefits, professional promotion
and more.
Survey findings this year indicate that the key considerations
in choosing a workplace were labor relations, sound em-
Vesti
naknade zarada, stručno napredovanje i drugi.
Rezultati ovogodišnjeg istraživanja ukazuju na to da
ključne faktore prilikom izbora radnog mesta predstavljaju
radni odnosi, sigurnost zaposlenja i zarade i naknade zarada.
naše zaposlene kako bismo stvorili pravično, raznovrsno i bezbedno
ekonomsku sigurnost.
Svima vama izražavamo veliku zahvalnost za vašu trajnu
posvećenost i podršku,
Strauss Ranks Among the Top 10 Companies
on the “Best Companies to Work For” List for
the Eighth Consecutive Year
ployment and salary and benefits. The survey further shows
that since the eruption of the social protest, Israeli employees
are experiencing, on the one hand, growing awareness of their
status - knowing that they can demand more, and, on the
other hand, a leaning toward occupational security in light of
global instability.
We thank all our employees who helped us retain our
top position as one of Israel’s most preferred employers.
We continue to focus constantly on our employees, in order
to create a fair, rewarding, diverse, healthy, safe and fulfilling
to improve labor relations and provide opportunities for personal
and professional development along with economic security.
INTERVJU – MILENA PJEŠČIĆ (36) I DRAGAN RADOSAVLJEVIĆ (37)
ljudi menjaju – jedni odlaze, drugi dolaze…
deset godina rada prošle godine i nagrađeni).
nabavke, i Dragana Radosavljevića, našeg veselog, duhovitog
ubrzano, a period „tranzicije“ (2003-2005), rekla bih,
posebno nije bio lak za sve.
Međutim, zahvaljujući
prirodi svog
posla i uvjerenju
da posao treba da
obavljam u najboljem
interesu kompanije,
uspjela sam
da „preživim“ sve
teške i neizvjesne
momente u ovih desetak
godina.
Već nekoliko godina
unazad, Strauss
Adriatic uživa ugled
društveno odgovorne,
tehnološki napredneinternacio-
nalne kompanije čije su osnovne vrijednosti briga o zaposlenima
sa jedne strane i briga o potrošačima kroz visokokvalitetan
utiske o Strauss-u nekad i sad. Naša kompanija je tokom 20
godina postojanja konstantno napredovala i evoluirala. U prvim
zadovoljstvo, i sam
sam postao deo
Doncafe priče. U
to doba preovladavao
je autokratski
stil upravljanja, poslovali
smo u poluuslovnom
radnom
okruženju, i koristili
zastarelu tehnologiju.
Međutim, uprkos
svim izazovima
kompanija je nastavljala
da raste i
da napreduje.
Preuzimanjem od
strane Strauss-a
postajemo deo velike multinacionalne grupacije i polako stvari
najsavremenije tehnologije, neguje asertivnu komunikaciju
i u potpunosti je posvećen dobrobiti svih zaintresovanih
strana.
nas, a glasi „create wonders out of basics“ – „od jednostavnih
stvari, pravimo nešto izuzetno“. Vodeći se ovom filozofijom, od
naizgled „običnog“ proizvoda, zahvaljujući našem jedinstvenom
načinu proizvodnje i Aroma expert konceptu, visokim
kroz timski rad u neformalnoj i relaksirajućoj atmosferi.
jedne velike porodice. Naša kompanija stimuliše sticanje novih
znanja i veština i kontinuirano napredovanje u profesionalnoj
karijeri.
i time doprinose boljem radu kompanije.
Sve ovo čini Strauss Adriatic veoma posebnim. Ponekad pomislim
znak. U svakom slučaju, treba je čuvati i dalje razvijati.
Don Revija: Koji momenat ili period vašeg rada ovde biste
posebno izdvojili i zašto?
iskustvo. I danas mi najviše nedostaje adrenalin iz
tog perioda...
kolegama u nabavci nikad nije „dosadno“ ☺.
u svakom trenutku. Moram priznati da sam ponosan na činjenicu
da smo u tom periodu uspešno izveli implementacije novog
poslovnog softvera u Srbiji i u BiH.
Upoznavanjem
sa finansijskim izveštajima, malim brojkama, velikim ciframa,
ekselom i drugim alatima pružila mi se prilika da istražim potpuno
drugu galaksiju, koju i dan danas pokušavam da osvojim.
U procesu sazrevanja veliko iskustvo sam stekao učestvovanjem
vreme i najinspirativnijim poslom u dosadašnjoj karijeri.
zadovoljstva i motivacije.
i isplanirati.
Dragan: Ne mogu identifikovati najstresniji deo mog posla,
koje me opuštaju i smanjuju nivo napetosti. Tokom vremena
Najzanimljivije i
najizazovnije mi je kada učestvujem u izradi kratkoročnih i dugoročnih
planova kompanije.
nazivali poslom. Tu se bliže upoznao sa malim zrnom i velikim
ljudima koji su ga opčinili. Od tada, svaki dan koji provode zajedno
je jedna velika anegdota. Doncafe inspiriše život.
Don Revija upućuje veliku zahvalnost Mileni i Draganu
i razmišljanja.
Reportaža
INTERVIEW – MILENA PJEŠČIĆ (36) AND DRAGAN RADOSAVLJEVIĆ (37)
MANAGERS WITH THE LONGEST SERVICE
It is customary for a company to see changes in its personnel
– people come and go… Still, it is even more customary that a
certain number of people should stay with the same company
for many years. We can boast the fact that we have a significant
number of colleagues whose years of service in this company
are already in the double digits (in the previous issue, we
presented to you all those who had been rewarded, last year,
for their first ten years of service).
This time, we have decided to better acquaint you with two young
managers, members of the middle management, with the
longest service among their colleagues at the same level in
the company. We introduce Milena Pješčić, a young lady who
has been making an effort in the past ten years, at the position
of procurement manager, with assistance from her small,
but select team, to procure everything that is necessary for the
operation of all of us, and Dragan Radosavljević, our jolly, witty
and extremely knowledgeable financial controller who makes
us feel less “afraid” of all those mystifying figures.
Don Revija: The two of you are employees with the longest
service among members of the company’s middle management.
How do you see the company today, compared to the
period when you started working?
Milena: Even though, from the moment I started working for
this company, I had the privilege of working for a company that
was a market leader in its business, the working environment,
conditions and manner of operation were not that good in
2002 (this could certainly be best confirmed by some of the
employees in production who have been with us long enough).
However, since I came to the company through recommendation
by the people from Elite International (which, at the time,
had already been in talks over acquisition of a portion of Golex
Produkt), I had already had the opportunity to feel, to a degree,
the “international” atmosphere in the company and “anticipate”
the forthcoming
change. Changes
were made at fast
pace, and I would
say that the “transition”
period (2003-
2005) especially
wasn’t easy on
anyone.
However, due to the
nature of my profession
and belief that
I should do my job
in the best interest
of the company, I
have managed to
“survive” all the har-
dships and uncertainty in the past ten years.
For the past few years, Strauss Adriatic has been known as
socially responsible, technologically advanced international
company whose core values are concern for its employees, on
one hand, and care for its customers through high quality products
on the other.
Dragan: At the beginning, I would like to extend my gratitude
for the opportunity to share the impressions of Strauss then
and now with my dear colleagues. During its 20 years of operation,
the company has been constantly improving and evolving.
In the first few years, the small family firm survived only
on account of great individual efforts. At the turn of the 20th to
the 21st century, in a hilly country in the Balkans, a small limited
liability company
sought to find its
place in the sun.
In this period of
our company’s lifecycle,
certain circumstances,
to my
great pleasure, led
to my becoming a
part of the Doncafe
story. At the
time, company saw
autocratic style of
management, operating
in an undeveloped
working environment
and using
obsolete technology.
However, despite the challenges, company continued to
grow and improve.
After being acquired by Strauss, we became a part of a large
multinational group and, slowly, things started to change. Step
after step, we reached today’s position when we represent a
stable and organized system that keeps current with and implements
the latest technologies, uses assertive communication
and is fully committed to the welfare of all interested
parties. And that is not all, of course.
I am certain that we will continue to change and adapt in order
to overcome any future challenges that are ahead of us.
Don Revija: What do you think sets Strauss apart from other
companies in Serbia?
Milena: In addition to what was already said, we are set apart
by our business philosophy, to “create wonders out of basics“,
which has been “ingrained” in each of us for years. Keeping
in line with this approach, we make wonders from seemingly
“regular” products, due to our unique production process and
Aroma Expert concept, high standards we apply and dedication
and creativity of our employees ☺.
Dragan: Compared to surrounding companies, Strauss Adriatic
is exceptional in many aspects, but mostly for its people.
Still, I think we stand out because we perform all our tasks
through team work and in an informal and relaxing atmosphere.
What is even more important, the support we give to each
other, in both professional and private life, makes us all feel as
part of one big family, good times or bad. Our company encourages
us to gain new knowledge and skills and continuously
advance our careers. However, I would especially like to emphasize
the opportunity given to employees to freely and openly
state their views and opinions and, in that way, contribute to
company’s better operation.
All of this makes Strauss Adriatic a very special company. Sometimes
I think we should “patent” our corporate culture as
our trademark. In any case, it should be preserved and further
improved.
Don Revija: What moment or period of your employment with
this company would you especially point out and why?
Milena: Even though it was not easy, I always fondly remember
my beginnings in the company. At the time, as an amateur in
coffee trade, I was in charge of coffee procurement!
However, luckily for me (and the company☺), I quickly found
my way in this field. The very introduction to coffee was a lovely
experience, while the monitoring of exchange on a daily basis,
as well as predicting the coffee prices and making decisions
on purchases was unforgettable. Even today, I miss the adrenalin
from that period the most... Still, as there is always a chance
of something unplanned happening in procurement and affecting
the production process, my colleagues in procurement
department and I are never “bored”☺.
Dragan: When thinking about it, I have a hard time pointing
out a single period, let alone a single moment as being special.
I was mostly impressed by my personal development (as in the
play Development of Bora Šnajder☺).
During training in sales force support, the most important
thing for me was to adjust and fit into the new environment.
When I started working, the whole world of accounting was
totally new, strange and incomprehensible to me, so I was primarily
focused on learning first lessons in finance, which would
later prove to be fundamental for the work I do today.
Despite the fact that working in IT was hard and demanding, I
enjoyed every moment of it. I must confess that I am proud of
the fact that we successfully implemented new business software
in Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina in that period.
Transfer to finance department, at least as it seems today, has
shaped my professional life. By learning about the financial
statements, small figures, large numbers, Excel and other tools,
I was given an opportunity to explore a whole new galaxy,
which I still trying to conquer. In the process of my personal
development, I gained a large experience by participating in
the project of company acquisition in Albania.
After the management placed trust in me and I was promoted
to the position of financial controller, I was faced with the most
complex and, at the same time, most inspiring job in my career
at that moment. In the beginning, I was nervous, not knowing
whether I would succeed in finding my way in the complicated
Reportaža
relations existing in every large company. Each day still brings
a new challenge for me, but also a source of joy and motivation.
In the end, I am grateful that I was given an opportunity to grow
and advance together with our company.
Don Revija: What is the most stressful and the most enjoyable
part of your job?
Milena: I would say that the most stressful and at the same
time the most enjoyable part of procurement is – uncertainty
of prices of products we procure and ensuring that raw and
production materials arrive in quantities sufficient for production,
at the right time, and that, on the other side, there isn’t too
much pressure on the inventories. It is stressful because you
are not able to control many aspects during the process itself,
but, on the other hand, it is very creative since there are many
things that need predicting and planning.
Dragan: I am not able to identify the most stressful part of
my job, but, just as other colleagues, I come across stressful
situations and try to deal with them. In order to succeed, I rely
on support from my family and friends. I also enjoy sports, music,
dancing as well as other activities that relax me and relieve
stress. In time, I learned how to make things and problems I am
faced with simpler, and it works for now. Don’t forget that the
life is made up of little things.
As the most enjoyable part of my job I can point out only one,
and that are two things: order, work and discipline. Kidding aside,
the most enjoyable part of my job is the satisfaction I feel
when I see that the figures in current financial statements are
at least a little better than the ones in the previous one. For
me, the most interesting and most challenging part is when
I participate in preparation of short-term and long-term company
plans. But I get much more pleasure, on a daily basis,
from our traditional lunches during which we “recharge”, from
cooperating with the closest associates in accounting, IT and
finance and from the trust placed in me by my colleagues in
other departments when they ask for my advice.
In fact, when I think more of it, the most enjoyable part of my
job is when I go on an annual leave and relax, because I know
that all tasks and duties my team is faced with will be performed
professionally and within agreed deadlines.
Don Revija: Please share with us an anecdote you particularly
remember.
Milena: This might not be an anecdote, but it is certainly interesting
to mention that, for the fourth time in a row, my colleague
Danijela and me are proving that “good planning“ of professional
and family duties is also important for good operation
of procurement department! ☺
As for anecdotes, I am sure my colleague Dragan will be able
to tell a story for me too☺
Dragan: On a sunny November morning, a young man
showed up at the door of a strange place people called workplace.
There, he got to know a small bean and great people
that mesmerized him. Since then, each day they spend together
is one big anecdote. Doncafe inspires life.
Don Revija extends its gratitude to Milena and Dragan for their
time and for sharing their experiences and thoughts with us.
Donosimo interesantne, korisne, zanimljive, čudne i neobične običaje
iz nekih zemalja širom sveta.
DOMINIKANSKA REPUBLIKA
U prvim mesecima majčinstva, nećete videti
Dominikanske mame kako šetaju napolju sa
svojim bebama. Dominikanske bebe se u prvim
mesecima čuvaju gotovo isključivo u zatvorenom
prostoru, kako bi ih zaštitili od sunca,
oblaka, vetra, virusa…
elemenata, normalnih i paranormalnih.
BUGARSKA
doje. Majčino mleko se smatra
najboljom hranom (bravo za Mongolke!)
i većina dece se doji prve
dve godine a neki i mnogo duže,
sve do polaska u školu. Dojenje je
u ovoj zemlji dopušteno na svim
javnim mestima, i zasigurno nigde
niko neće upozoriti majku zato što
doji svoje dete. Zapravo, veruje se
da su najbolji mongolski rvači bili
dojeni sve do pete godine života.
NARODNI OBIČAJI
NEOBIČNI OBIČAJI NAKON
ROĐENJA BEBE
JORDAN
probleme kasnije u životu, uključujući reumatizam i artritis.
DANSKA
Nikada nećete videti kolica u danskim
kafićima. Videćete ih uredno
„parkirana“ ispred kafića, gde
bebe mirno spavaju dok roditelji u
kafićima uživaju u kafi ili kapućinu.
U stvari, Danski nacionalni odbor
za zdravstvo preporučuje
ovu praksu, verujući da
bebe na otvorenom
spavaju zdravije i
imaju bolji apetit.
FOLK CUSTOMS
UNUSUAL CUSTOMS AFTER
CHILDBIRTH
After having a baby, a Jordan woman will not eat any ice-cream for a long time. Women
in Jordan usually avoid cold food and beverages after childbirth. According to traditional
belief, the bones of a new mother are still open and exposure to cold at this very
sensitive stage can cause various problems later in life, including rheumatism and
arthritis. In this country, warm and hot food is believed to promote production of milk.
SWEDEN
When having to deal with a restless and irritable baby that won’t sleep,
Swedish parents apply special methods. They put the baby in the crib on
its stomach and lightly tap the baby’s lower back and diaper, thus creating
rhythmic vibrations. It is believed that this imitates the vibrations inside
the womb, which makes the baby feel safe and fall asleep easier.
GUATEMALA
Women in Guatemala traditionally bathe their babies in ice-cold water believing
that cold baths soothe skin rash (usually caused by heat) and enable peaceful
sleep. Even though cold water is a shock to small babies, especially because
of extremely high temperatures in this country, Guatemalan mothers are quite
unperturbed by their baby’s crying and believe that this tradition should not be
abandoned.
There are various customs and traditions related to childbirth around
the world. Treatment of the newborn baby and its mother, including their
nurture and diet, are different in various countries.
These traditional customs have different origins. Some exist for
purely health-related reasons, some are influenced by the climate and
some by religion, while some customs date so far back that nobody
even knows why they are practiced.
We bring to you interesting, useful and unusual customs from some
of the countries around the world.
DOMINICAN REPUBLIC
DENMARK
You will never see a baby carriage
in Danish cafés. You will see
them properly “parked” outside
the café with babies peacefully
sleeping in them, while their parents
are having a coffee or cappuccino
inside. Actually, Danish
national health board recommends
this practice because the babies
who spend time outdoors sleep
better and have better appetite.
Zabava
During the first months of their motherhood,
you will see no Dominican mothers having a
walk outside with their babies. Dominican
babies are kept almost only indoors during
the first months of their lives, to protect them
from sun, clouds, wind, viruses… If the baby
needs to be taken out at this age, it is always
fully covered to keep it “protected” from various
elements, both normal and paranormal.
BULGARIA
If you happen to visit Bulgaria with a baby, don’t
be surprised if passers-by, while lovingly looking
at your baby, spit (or at least imitate this
action) and say: “Hen pooped on you”. According
to Bulgarian tradition, if a child is praised
too much, the devil will become jealous. So,
it is best to pretend that the child is ugly. This
tradition has actually contributed to the higher
appreciation of modesty in this country.
MONGOLIA
In this country, babies are breastfed
for a long time. Mother’s milk
is considered the best food (hurray
for Mongolian women!) and most
children are breast-fed until the
age of two, and some even much
longer, until they start school.
Breastfeeding is allowed in this
country in all public places, and
surely no one will warn a mother
for breast-feeding her child. Actually,
people believe that the best
Mongolian wrestlers have been
breast-fed until the age of five.
//NARODNA MEDICINA
veliko i nepokolebljivo poverenje.
protiv »zlih duhova« i drugih »nevidljivih opasnih sila«, dakle,
Iskonsko verovanje
u lekovitu, zaštitnu i mađijsku moć belog luka zaoralo
je duboku brazdu u materijalnom i duhovnom životu našeg
naroda.
proleće i za vreme nekadašnjih dugotrajnih postova beli luk
se obavezno morao jesti uz svaki obrok. Za vreme raznih epidemija
tifusa, kolere, kuga, dizenterije, gripa i uopšte kad god
preventivno i kurativno sredstvo preporučivan i svakodnevno
ispituje u hemijskim i mikrobiološkim laboratorijama, u farmaceutskoj
upotrebe ove biljke u narodnom životu, narodnoj ishrani,
a pre svega u narodnoj medicini. Tome treba dodati još i
Naime,
u starom i u srednjem i dugo vremena u novom veku beli luk
poslednjim vekovima, a naročito u XIX veku gotovo potpuno
izbačen iz farmakopeja. Tek u I, a naročito u II svetskom ratu
i posle njega počinje pravo naučno proučavanje belog luka
antibiotika.
NARODNA MEDICINA
BELI LUK KAO LEK
MALO JE NAŠIH DOMAćIH BILJAKA KOJIMA SE PRIDAJE TOLIKA VAŽNOST I U KOJE SE
IMA TAKO NEPOKOLEBLJIVO POVERENJE KAO PREMA BELOM LUKU
Upotreba belog luka u narodnoj medicini
• Lečenje obolelog srca i krvnih sudova (arterioskleroze) i
snižavanje holesterola u krvi, čime smanjuje rizik od
srčanog i moždanog udara
• Lečenje živčanih bolesti, glavobolje, nesvestice, itd.
• Lečenje organa za varenje
• Upotreba belog luka protiv crevnih parazita
• Lečenje kožnih bolesti, kospopada i ustobolje
Nasuprot
ljuti miris i ukus.
UPOTREBA U NAUČNOJ MEDICINI
Beli luk se sve više i raznovrsnije upotrebljava u naučnoj
medicini. Osim galenskih, izrađuju se i preparati u farmaceutskoj
industriji. Upotreba u naučnoj medicini uglavnom se
poklapa sa primenom u narodnoj. Ulazi u sastav raznih preparata
sistema (u SAD), protiv visokog krvnog pritiska, arterioskleroze
i dečjih glista, kao efikasno antiseptično preventivno
sredstvo protiv raznih zaraznih bolesti (tifus, grip, difterija,
kolera), protiv hroničnog bronhitisa, velikog i običnog kašlja
protiv peruti i opadanja kose i dr.
Interesantno je reći da bebe prilikom dojenja
popiju veću količinu mleka ukoliko je majka nešto
pre dojenja konzumirala beli luk. Pri tom neće
izazvati dodatne neželjene grčeve kod bebe.
ISTORIJAT
Zabava
veoma stara kulturna biljka. Stari Kinezi, Indusi, Jevreji,
Egipćani i drugi narodi gajili su beli luk više vekova pre naše
ere kao hranljivu, začinsku i lekovitu biljku. U staroj induskoj
broja bolesti: nedostatka apetita, lošeg varenja, mršavosti i
opšte slabosti, kašlja, kožnih bolesti, reumatizma, hemoroida
i dr. U Vedama, induskim svetim knjigama, spominju se
lekovi, među njima i beli luk.
obavljano uz primenu tajni, molitava, mađija, složenog rituala i
Orfej spominje beli luk, kukurek i druge
biljke kao lek. Hipokrat u svojim delima navodi beli luk kao
lek protiv crevnih parazita, za uređivanje stolice i pojačavanje
mokrenja. Dioskorid navodi beli luk kao lek protiv crevnih
parazita, sredstvo za uređivanje menstruacije i protiv ujeda
zmija (beli luk se pije u vinu) i protiv ujeda besnog psa (polaže
se na ranu). Pomešan s uljem i solju, dobar je protiv ospica, a
s medom, protiv lišaja i nekih drugih bolesti.
zapadna Evropa, utonula u mrak i neznanje.
People see garlic as remedy for every ailment and put
great and unwavering trust in it. This, almost fanatical, primal
belief goes so far that garlic is still used in some country households
as not only a preventative medicine, but also as
magic protection against “evil spirits” and other “invisible
dangerous forces”, therefore as means for casting spells,
cursing and enchantment. Primal belief in medicinal, protective
and magic properties of garlic made a deep impact on
our people’s spiritual and material life. There isn’t a country
house that doesn’t plant garlic. Garlic is almost regularly eaten
and used as seasoning for various dishes. In the spring
and during the long fasting periods, garlic was used as addition
with every meal. During various epidemics of typhus,
cholera, plague, dysentery, flu and in general, whenever large
number of people died from infectious diseases, it was garlic
that was primarily recommended and used on a daily basis as
preventive medicine and cure. When mothers saw their sons
off to wars, or let their daughters join other young people or
let their children play outside, garlic was always there, hidden
somewhere in clothes or around the body (as lucky charm).
Even today, many people don’t go on a trip without bringing
Zabava//TRADITIONAL MEDICINE
MEDICINAL PROPERTIES
Having in mind that garlic has recently been the subject
of many scientific tests carried out in chemical and microbiological
laboratories, in pharmaceutical industry and in clinics,
and that good results have been achieved in treating numerous
diseases, primitively treated with garlic by people across
continents for thousands of years, the need for studying the
use of this plant in people’s lives, diet and, most of all, folk
medicine is even more compelling. One should also add the
extremely diverse use of garlic, not only as plant used on a
daily basis as food and remedy, and sometimes as magic, but
also for its physiological, medicinal properties which are varied.
Specifically, in the past few years, in both folk medicine
and medical science, garlic has been used for treating a large
number of diverse diseases, both internally and externally.
The historic data show that in old, middle and, for a long time,
in the new age garlic was recognized as medicine in medical
practices of various peoples, but also that, in the recent centuries,
especially in the XIX century, it had been completely
removed from pharmacopoeias. As recent as the World War
I, and especially in World War II and after it, the real scientific
studies of garlic started, together with exceptional work on
research and discovery of bacteriostatic medicines, such as
penicillin and streptomycin, therefore antibiotic drugs.
FOLK MEDICINE
GARLIC AS MEDICINE
THERE ARE NOT MANY PLANTS THAT ARE GIVEN SUCH IMPORTANCE AND IN WHICH SO
MUCH UNWAVERING TRUST IS PLACED AS GARLIC
some garlic.
Use of garlic in folk medicine
Garlic is used in folk medicine for
• treating respiratory organs
• treating diseases of the heart and arteries (arteriosclero
sis) and for lowering blood cholesterol, thus reducing the
risk of heart attack and stroke
• reating nervous system disorders, headaches, fainting
• treating digestive system
• for intestinal parasites
• treating skin conditions, hair loss and mouth disease
• treating liver conditions
This plant is a proven antibiotic which is why it is very often
used for treating as well as preventing cold and flu. Regular
use of garlic lowers the risk of cancer, strengthens immune
system and production of antibodies. It is confirmed that it
has effect on tumor cells, which makes it a useful additional,
natural aid for cancer.
TRADITIONAL MEDICINE
Garlic keeps its pungency for a long time, until
it is dried or it sprouts so much that all nutrients
and juices are sucked out of it. In addition, ground
and pulverized garlic, just like other drugs of
a similar chemical composition, quickly loses its
pungency and smell.
Use in medical science
Garlic is being increasingly and more diversely used in
medical science. In addition to galenical preparations, pharmaceutical
industry also produces a number of preparations.
Use in medical science mostly reflects the applications in
folk medicine. Garlic is an ingredient of various preparations
for increasing appetite, for strengthening immune system;
it is used in stimulants for the nervous system (in the US),
preparations for high blood pressure, arteriosclerosis and
intestinal worms. It is also used as an efficient antiseptic, preventive
medicine for various infectious diseases (typhus, flu,
diphtheria, cholera), for treatment of chronic bronchitis, and
whooping and regular cough as an expectorant; it is used in
the form of pulp for treatment of ulcers and bruises. During
the World War II, it was used for preventing the festering of
wounds, for dandruff and hair loss, etc.
It is interesting that, during breastfeeding, babies
drink larger quantity of milk if the mother
has used garlic moments before breastfeeding.
Also, this will not cause additional cramps for the
baby.
HISTORY
Zabava
According to the studies of a number of scientific researchers,
garlic is an old cultivated plant. In the ancient times,
the Chinese, Hindus, Jews, Egyptians and other cultures
cultivated garlic for centuries before Christ as a nutritious,
seasoning and medicinal plant. In old Hindu medicine, garlic
was a much esteemed remedy, and it was also used as a
love potion. In this faraway land, garlic was known as remedy
for a number of various conditions. Most of all, it was used
as a general herbal tonic, for strengthening the systems in
the body in cases of various conditions: lack of appetite, indigestion,
loss of weight and general weakness, cough, skin
conditions, rheumatism, hemorrhoids, etc. In the Vedas, sacred
Hindu texts, garlic is included in the medicines. Since
the Hindu priests were the first doctors and pharmacists, it is
only understandable that the treatments and administration
of medicines were carried out with the use of secret knowledge,
prayer, magic, complex rituals and elaborate ceremony.
The Ancient Egyptians had high respect for garlic. Due to
garlic’s preventative properties, the construction of pyramids
was successfully carried out, since many infectious diseases
were prevented.
The Ancient Greeks also had respect for garlic’s properties.
Even though they prohibited entrance to the temples for
those who ate garlic (calling it “stinking rose”), there were
not many remedies that they respected as much as garlic.
Orpheus mentions garlic, hellebore and other plants as remedies.
Hippocrates writes in his works of garlic as remedy
for intestinal parasites, for regulating bowel movements and
increased urination. Dioscorides mentions garlic as remedy
for intestinal parasites, for regulating menstruation and for
snake bite (garlic drunk in wine) and rabid dog bite (placed
on the wound). Mixed with oil and salt, it is good for rash,
and mixed with honey it may be used for eczema and other
conditions.
Arab doctors in the Middle Ages contributed much to
spreading of the use of garlic as medicine, as they, in general,
did for many other drugs hitherto unknown in Europe.
