A Commentary...

Local flavor is mighty good
You just never know what
goes on until you get out. Sometimes
the flavor of being a local
can be experienced
only when
you say goodbye
to the couch and
TV and go experience
things for
real. Not to take
anything away
from great entertainment
on the
tube but getting
out and sharing an experience
is so much better. Take
for example the Relay for Life
this past weekend at TRCC, now
there’s a whole bunch of people
who really care getting together
and having a great time for an
excellent cause. This year’s event
was coordinated by Michelle
Jackson and Christy Miller and
had entertainment all night long
including games, dancing, an
auction, a DJ, and tributes to
those who have won and lost the
battle with cancer. Hundreds
in our community came out to
share in the experience including
Tyler Profilet who was the emcee
for the entire event which was
hosted free for the public from
6pm Friday to 6am Saturday
While we’re on the subject of
getting out at no charge, Southern
Bank held their Movie In
The Park on Sunday.
This time it
was The Goonies, a
family favorite. The
weather was perfect
and they show the
movie at no charge.
Ruth, Ruth, Baby
Ruth !!!! They even
began the show with
a Truffle Shuffle
contest for the kids. Kudos to
the crew at Southern Bank for
bringing quality entertainment
to us all. They even began the

On deck at the wine rack
June 25 th at the Wine Rack
is the band Strange Brew, an
eclectic blend of musical energy
with an ambiance that always
leaves me and others asking for
more. Come out and have a
good time, its sure to be fun.
So the message here is to
keep your eyes peeled for lots of
interesting things happening here
in town. And if you see something
fun going on tell us about it

Gulf oil catastrophe: Who’s to blame?
Finally, the buck stops with Obama
For fully eighteen months, every
time something has gone right in
America it is the glorious dark
angel’s doing. All hail Emperor
Obama. Thank the lord that after
totally reclamating the Chicago
ghettos to the wonderous garden
of eden they are today he
graced the rest of this “mean
racist” nation by becoming
president, and the skies parted
the sun rained down and everything
good in America is due to
his works.
When his reign began, everything
bad in our nation was
exclusively property of Bush/
Cheney Inc. If the anointed
one stubbed his toe it was and
evil plot by W. However, for
the first time a problem, in this
case the oil leaking into the
Gulf, cannot be blamed on Bush.
No amount of eloquent speech or
mainstream media bias can mask
the incompetent response of the
Obama administration.
The buck has finally stopped,
and it has stopped at the bottom of
the Gulf of Mexico.

The chickens have finally come hoome to roost
It took seven years of the Bush
administration’s de-regulating the
banking industry for America’s financial
system to be brought to the
brink of collapse. Their catering to
special Wall Street interest brought
us to a near depression level catastrophe
that has adversely affected
the lives of millions of Americans.
Now we are seeing what years of
deregulation have brought to the
oil industry.
While 401ks can be refunded
and the DOW ‘s value can climb
back to 10,000 the Bush administration’s
oil men regulating oil
men strategy has unleashed an ecological
Chernobyl on the Gulf of
Mexico that no amount of money
and time will be able to undo.
President Obama hasn’t been in
office long enough to stem the tide
of “drill-baby-drill” environmental
policy, and anyone that attempts
to blame this on President Obama
would be as wrong as those who
attempted to blame George W.
Bush for 9/11.
