SATRU SAMHARA SRI SUBRAMANYA HOMAM
Demon Surapadma ravaged the earth and tormented its beings. It was realized by the gods that only the son born to
Shiva and Parvathi could lead the gods to victory over Tarakaasuran, Surapadman and their demon companions.
And they took Kamadeva’s help to make Shiva fall in love with Parvathi. And Shiva’s penance was disturbed, when
Kama aimed his arrow. Shiva opened his third eye and burned Kama to ashes instantly. Hence Kartikeya was born
from the third eye of Shiva as six fierce sparks of fire. Lord Kartik was brought up by Parvathi and six Kartika
damsels. Parvathi hugged six children with extreme affection; they became one with six heads and twelve arms to be
known as Lord Shanmugha or Kartikeya. Kartikeya the supreme general of the Devas led the army of the Devas and
destroyed demon Surapadman and enabled Devas to attain Moksha.
