Ensure that others in your room are awake.<br />

Go to the place of assembly, shutting all doors behind you.<br />

By day -<br />

Go at once to the place of assembly.<br />

At all times -<br />

ACT QUIETLY.<br />

DO NOT STOP TO COLLECT YOUR PERSONAL BELONGINGS.<br />

DO NOT ATTEMPT TO PASS OTHERS ON YOUR WAY TO THE PLACE<br />

OF ASSEMBLY.<br />

EMERGENCY LIFT PROCEDURE<br />

EMERGENCY SERVICE TELEPHONE No. ................................................<br />

EMERGENCY RELEASE OF PASSENGERS<br />

EMERGENCY H<strong>AND</strong>WINDING<br />

To be used ONLY in the case of an emergency and ONLY by authorised persons<br />

who have had instructions in its use. It is dangerous for any other person to<br />

attempt do so.<br />

Before any emergency operation is attempted, a minimum of two authorised<br />

persons must attend and establish effective communication with one another.<br />

PROCEDURE:<br />

A BEFORE OPERATING H<strong>AND</strong>WINDING MECHANISM<br />

1 Call the Lift Engineers’ Emergency Service.<br />

2 Switch off the power supply at the main switch (marked).<br />

3 Warn any passengers in the lift that it is about to be moved and therefore<br />

to stand clear of the doors and remain in the car until instructed to leave.<br />

4 Check that all landing doors are closed and locked.<br />

5 Ensure car door/gates are closed.<br />

6 One authorised person to position him/herself where motion of the car<br />

can be established and to confirm and communicate the movement and<br />

position of the car to the second authorised person in the machine room.<br />

B TO MOVE THE CAR<br />

7 Providing the car is free to be moved in the downward direction then it<br />

should be wound to the nearest floor below.<br />

8 If this is not practical due to distance and/or lack of balance, an attempt<br />

should be made to move the car upward.<br />

9 If the lift car does not move, cease all attempts, reassure trapped<br />

passengers and await Lift Engineer’s arrival.<br />

C PASSENGER RELEASE<br />

10 Release passengers by opening doors with the release key.<br />

11 LEAVE LIFT SWITCHED OFF <strong>AND</strong> ENSURE ALL L<strong>AND</strong>ING DOORS ARE<br />

CLOSED <strong>AND</strong> LOCKED.<br />

DO NOT ATTEMPT TO MOVE THE LIFT IN ANY OTHER FASHION<br />

ELECTRIC LIFT-EFFORT REQUIRED
