Council Recycling Centres
The Government launched the
Waste Strategy for England
and Wales, “Away with Waste”,
in May 2000.
It provides a blueprint for how
waste will be managed to meet
government objectives for the
next 20 years.
The main targets in the
household waste strategy are:
• To recover 45% of
household waste by 2010
• To recycle or compost 30%
of household waste by
2010

Waste Recycling Signs
In line with the EU Landfill Directive, most local authorities have in place a Municipal Waste
Management Strategy. As part of this Strategy, waste must be separated for recycling where
possible. These signs are ideal for marking bins and receptacles for recycling purposes.

Sign size coding is made up in most cases of 2
letters. The first letter indicates the length, the
second indicates the height.
For example, if the sign size is RG, the sign will
be 600mm length x 200mm height.
