<strong>WABCO</strong>-<strong>TVS</strong> (<strong>INDIA</strong>) <strong>LIMITED</strong> <strong>INFORMATION</strong> <strong>MEMORANDUM</strong><br />

Manufacturing:<br />

The Company’s manufacturing facilities follow practices such as TQM, TPM and Lean<br />

Manufacturing and has best-in-class practices for safety, work environment, water<br />

and energy conservation.<br />

The Brakes Business of the Company won the TPM Excellence Award from Japan<br />

Institute of Plant Maintenance (JIPM) for its manufacturing facility in Ambattur in<br />

Chennai.<br />

Kaizen activities are implemented to improve manufacturing quality and productivity<br />

in all the manufacturing locations.<br />

The Company has commenced production in the new manufacturing plant in the<br />

Special Economic Zone (SEZ) - Mahindra World City near Chennai to cater to<br />

<strong>WABCO</strong>’s requirements.<br />

To meet the challenges of emerging competition and to serve the customers better,<br />

the Company proposes to have manufacturing facilities nearer to its major<br />

customers’ plants. The Company has already started its operation in Jamshedpur,<br />

situated near its largest customer Tata Motors.<br />

Quality:<br />

The quality system at the factory aims at achieving total customer satisfaction<br />

through its focus on consistently providing products of high quality. This is achieved<br />

through state-of-art technology, best manufacturing practices, training, total<br />

employee involvement and continuous improvement culture.<br />

The standardization of the quality procedures is aligned with TS 16949 requirements.<br />

Cost Management:<br />

The Company continues its rigorous focus on managing its costs through an effective<br />

cost deployment system. Value engineering and global sourcing projects are being<br />

pursued for cost reduction and also to insulate from cost escalation. TPM and lean<br />

manufacturing initiatives are deployed Company-wide to achieve significant<br />

improvement in productivity and reduction in manufacturing cost.<br />

Information Technology:<br />

The Company uses ERP system that integrates all business processes across the<br />

Company as well as dealers and suppliers. The Company focuses on further<br />

consolidation of ERP system. Most of the business transactions between the<br />

Company, suppliers and dealers are done through ERP.<br />

Human Resources:<br />

As of 31 st August 2008, the Company has 992 employees on its payroll. The<br />

Company will continue to attach considerable importance to its human resource base<br />

and continue to maintain the impeccable record on industrial relations.<br />

Environment & safety:<br />

Safety management is integrated with the overall Environment, Health and Safety<br />

(EHS) management system. The Company is committed to energy conservation.<br />
