culture, and the beautiful landscapes surrounding it –
from the regions around Meißen with their wineries to the
Eastern Ore Mountains, Lusatia and Saxon Switzerland.
Within the region of the transport executive Oberelbe
(Verkehrsverbund Oberelbe – VVO) you can travel with
ease – get one ticket for all trains, busses, trams and
most ferries. This brochure contains information on tickets,
how and where to purchase them and on some special
means of transport.
Furthermore, in this brochure you will find suggestions
for day trips and tours by public transport, as well as
information on timetables and maps of Dresden and the
whole VVO region.

About us
One ticket.
for everything.
Just use busses, regional trains, trams and most ferries as
you wish. Your ticket is valid almost everywhere and it does
not matter where you purchase it.
Just change wherever you like. Convenient connections and
synchronised timetables make it easy. Modern vehicles, train
stations and park-and-ride-facilities ensure that your journey
by public transport in Dresden and the Oberelbe region is
easy and convenient.
The VVO and 13 transport companies offer an extensive
network for locals and guests. Busses, trains, trams
and ferries connect more than 3.700 stops along 320 lines.
We are here to ensure you enjoy the best possible public
transport experience while travelling in the Oberelbe region.
Therefore, we constantly improve connections between
busses and trains and offer a unified fare system, clear
information and customer-friendly service.

the VVO region
The region of the VVO is divided into 21 tariff zones.
No matter which service you use or how often you change
between various modes of transport: these zones are the
basis for your fare rate. Just count the number of zones you
are travelling through. The price of your ticket is displayed
in the fare overview.

The VVO-NachtTicket (Night Ticket) is valid from 6 pm till 6
am on the following day and allows you to travel within the
whole VVO region for just 7 EUR per person.

Out and about with
the Dresden Cards
The Dresden City Card is your ticket on busses, trams,
trains and ferries within the city of Dresden and on tram line 4
to Weinböhla. The card entitles you to buy reduced tickets for
the Dresden mountain railways and offers discounts at over
80 partner establishments.

for one adult: 9,90 EUR
for one family: 12,50 EUR (1 family = 2 adults
and max. 4 children aged up to 14 years)
Dresden City Card for two days

Dresden Cards
The Dresden Regio Cards provide unlimited travel on all
local public transport services throughout the entire Oberelbe
public transport network (see VVO map last page) – except
on our historic means of travel and on the Meißen sightseeing
bus. They entitle holders to purchase discounted fares on
Dresden’s mountain railways, the Meißen sightseeing bus,
the steam-operated Lößnitzgrundbahn and Weißeritztalbahn
narrow-gauge railways, as well as the Kirnitzschtalbahn tram.
Furthermore, they include free entry to the museums of the
Dresden State Art Collections (except Historic Green Vault)
and offer discounts at over 130 partner establishments.

The Elbe Labe ticket offers you unlimited mobility. The ticket is
valid in the whole VVO region, on all cross-border bus- and
train services, the cross-border ferry Schöna-Hřensko and on
all trains and most bus services in the Kraj Ústí n. L. (Czech
Republic).

A journey by bike
with the fahrradbus
You can take your bike with you – as long as the capacity
permits it in all means of transport.
In addition to regular services, the FahrradBUS (bike and
bus services) run from Easter till the end of October on
weekends and public holidays on selected routes. Special
trailers with sufficient room for bikes are attached to selected
busses – take the bus up a mountain and go down by bike.
This service is included in the regular fare for your bike.

Lößnitzgrundbahn – Narrow-gauge railway
Kirnitzschtalbahn
Inspiring journeys
In 1898 the tram set out on its first tour. Between the
starting point in the heart of the town park of Bad Schandau
and the end point next to the Lichtenhain Waterfall, the tram
winds its way along the little river Kirnitzsch. On its way
there are nine stops, including the mills in Ostrau and
Mittelndorf and the Beuthenfall, a waterfall. The valley of
the river Kirnitzsch is the starting point for wonderful hiking
tours through the rock formations of Saxon Switzerland.

Take a trip with the world’s oldest mountain suspension railway
and enjoy a spectacular view from the hill-top terrace.
Dresdner standseilbahn
The funicular was taken into service in 1895 to link the
villa district atop the Elbe hills with the city of Dresden.
Both mountain railways offer guided tours through the
engine house which offer interesting insights for everyone.

The Meißen Cathedral

This steam powered elderly “lady” is one of the oldest narrowgauge
railways in Germany and travels at a leisurely pace
from Radebeul Ost, via Moritzburg to Radeburg. Travel along
vineyards, see the impressive hunting palace at Moritzburg
and enjoy the lakes around it.
Weißeritztalbahn
Germany’s oldest narrow-gauge railway runs through the
Eastern Ore Mountains. The different natural spaces along the
tracks and a scenic variety make it one of the most beautiful
routes in Europe. It connects the city of Freital with the wild,
romantic Rabenauer Grund (a valley with a little river named Rote
Weißeritz) and the hilly landscape of the upper Ore Mountains.
