General description<br />
The OSY-ControlCenter is the management and<br />
control centre for the Flamenco nurse call system.<br />
It monitors and controls all communications be‐<br />
tween the various system components. The Con‐<br />
trolCenter also serves as the central interface for<br />
the input and output of data, voice communications<br />
and system messages. It allows for the central sys‐<br />
tem access for servicing the system and for later<br />
expansions via remote access. The modular setup<br />
allows for the adaptation to different sizes of sys‐<br />
tems. Several OSY-ControlCenters may be<br />
coupled. Because of the strict separation between<br />
the physical system structure and the later orga‐<br />
nisation of the nurse call system, the allocation of<br />
system users is not bound to a specific pattern.<br />
This provides for maximum flexibility in the system<br />
layout.<br />

The OSY-ControlCenter is a self-sufficient system<br />
unit and it is independent of supplementary exter‐<br />
nal equipment such as networks and LAN compo‐<br />
nents. There are no moving parts and the system<br />
operates virtually wear-free. Even if faults occur at<br />
systems or components which are connected via<br />
interfaces and/or networks, the basic function of<br />
the nurse call system will be sustained. This func‐<br />
tional security is valid for the whole system and it<br />
is not limited to specific, ward-related functions. To<br />
further enhance the functional safety and security,<br />
additional, de-centralised safety controllers can be<br />
integrated into the system structure.<br />
Basic layout<br />
The OSY-ControlCenter features a modular struc‐<br />
ture and it is designed and arranged to best cope<br />
with the desired performance spectrum.<br />
The number of modules required for a particular<br />
project or installation depends on the total number<br />
of users to be linked to the system and on the<br />
number of internal and external communications to<br />
be provided for. Additional interfaces can be added<br />
to the system at any time, for instance for HIS, facil‐<br />
ity management and linking of PBX.<br />
