resucitada. El patio liso y barrido,
las enredaderas trepándose por las
paredes y las macetas colgadas de las
He nailed a wooden cross on a pillar,
and ordered that the doors be left open
so that the air would come in, and that
the moldings be removed, the leaks
be fixed, and flowers be planted in the
flowerpots that hung from the beams.
Days later, the priest was finally able to
see the house resurrected. The patio
cleared and swept, the ivy climbing on
the walls, and flowerpots hanging from
the beams. The smiling and chubby
priest gave Ulalio a pat on the back as
he said:
“I thought you said it was haunted...”
“Just you wait, Father. I can still hear
bumps in the night...”
