No pudo contenerse.
One day Chema saw them sitting at
the root of a tamarind tree by the pond
telling each other secrets. The storm
was coming and there was an unsettling
darkness. The leaves had stopped
rustling as if the air had coagulated.
Among the kisses of the water over
the stones, kisses of lips were heard.
He could not contain himself. A thick
cloud of jealousy, more turbulent and
with more lightning than that of the
sky, blinded him in an instant. Chema
arrived tremulously behind him and he
stabbed Felipe with his dagger.
The storm filled the world with its
imposing fury. Like a whip, the lightning
fell over the imposing backs of the
shrunken volcanoes that were fleeing
in groups. The roaring river carried away
firewood and mud and a miserable
doll with a pin nailed right in his heart.
