tree plantings, bollards, vintage light poles, and clearly
demarcated crosswalks create both an attractive and safe
downtown.
The overall character of the downtown
district is defined by more
than the buildings. Landscape features
of the streetscape, such as the
pattern of street trees and planting
strips between the sidewalk and the
curb, and choice of paving textures,
form a significant part of the historic
character of an area. Similarly, traditional
landscape designs help to unify
the district visually. These traditional
patterns should be maintained as the
district continues to evolve.
