PERIGEE AND DISASTERS<br />

Most of New Zealand’s major weather-related disasters<br />

have occurred around the Perigee. Below are some<br />

well known events that have been written into New Zealand’s<br />

history books.<br />

<strong>The</strong>re are many more; but space does not permit<br />

the listing of all. As the Earth passes under the <strong>Moon</strong> in 24<br />

hours, the reader might care to delve into newspaper reports<br />
