Preamble:<br />
Chapter – 11<br />
HORTICULTURE<br />
1. The item <strong>of</strong>s <strong>of</strong> turfing with sods <strong>and</strong>f seeding <strong>and</strong> mulching have been included in the chapter<br />
<strong>of</strong> earthwork.<br />
2. The rates <strong>for</strong> grassing <strong>of</strong> lawns <strong>and</strong> hedges has been included, as the same may be needed<br />
<strong>for</strong> resting places on highways.<br />
3. Five types <strong>of</strong> tree guards as under have been provided -<br />
a) Half brick circular type<br />
b) Tree guards made from empty bitumen drums 1.30 m high.<br />
c) Tree guards made from empty bitumen drums 2.00 m high.<br />
d) Tree guards with MS flat iron.<br />
e) Tree guards with MS angle <strong>and</strong> 3 mm steel wire welded on MS flat <strong>and</strong> bolted to angle iron<br />
posts.<br />
4. Selection from above may be made as per actual situation <strong>and</strong> design.<br />

5. <strong>Rates</strong> <strong>for</strong> wrought iron <strong>and</strong> mild welded work has been included to cater <strong>for</strong> any miscelleneous<br />
work in connection with horticulture, fencing <strong>and</strong> traffic sign.<br />
6. Though the estimate <strong>for</strong> compensatory af<strong>for</strong>estation is made by the <strong>for</strong>est department, the<br />
rate <strong>for</strong> this item has been analysed <strong>and</strong> included <strong>for</strong> the purpose <strong>of</strong> estimation.<br />
7. As grass <strong>and</strong> plantation need more care, one mate has been provided <strong>for</strong> every 10 mazdoors<br />
in case <strong>of</strong> horticulture.
