Chapter – 9<br />
PIPE CULVERTS<br />
1 Pipe culverts <strong>of</strong> sizes 1000 mm <strong>and</strong> 1200 mm dia in single row <strong>and</strong> double row which are<br />
generally used on roads, have been included. Providing <strong>and</strong> laying <strong>of</strong> pipe has been included in the<br />
rate analysis. Items <strong>of</strong> auxiliary works such as excavation, bedding, backfilling, concrete <strong>and</strong><br />
masonry shall be analysed, as provided under the respective sections <strong>and</strong> paid <strong>for</strong> separately.<br />
2 Analysis has been given separately <strong>for</strong> NP2 pipes <strong>for</strong> ease <strong>of</strong> adoption.<br />
3 Cost <strong>of</strong> any river training <strong>and</strong> protection work like stone pitching, apron, curtain wall etc. may be<br />
analysed under the respective item included in Chapter 16.<br />
4 The joining <strong>of</strong> pipes is proposed by collar joints.<br />
5 Chain & pulley <strong>for</strong> lifting the pipes is considered part <strong>of</strong> overheads.<br />

6 The thickness <strong>of</strong> first class bedding has been taken as 150 mm. The height <strong>of</strong> bedding has been<br />
taken as 1/10th <strong>of</strong> overall height <strong>of</strong> pipe in the analysis. This may be modified as per thickness<br />
indicated in the approved drawing.
