Chapter–8<br />

TRAFFIC SIGNS, MARKINGS AND OTHER APPURTENANCES<br />

1 Rate analysis <strong>for</strong> fencing has been done <strong>for</strong> two different heights, i.e., 1.20 m <strong>and</strong> 1.80 m. Any <strong>of</strong><br />

these two can be adopted depending upon a particular situation <strong>and</strong> design.<br />

2 Rate analysis <strong>for</strong> fencing provides <strong>for</strong> three types as under :<br />

a) Barbed wire fencing<br />

b) Welded steel wire fencing with mesh size <strong>of</strong> 75X25 mm<br />

c) Welded steel wire fabric with mesh size <strong>of</strong> 75X50 mm<br />

3 Kerbstone laying <strong>and</strong> road marking has been provided <strong>for</strong> laying by mechanical means.<br />

4 Back filling <strong>of</strong> foundatin <strong>of</strong> boudary pillars has been proposed with stone spalls, tightly packed <strong>and</strong><br />

compacted.<br />

5 The item pertaining to road traffic signals has not been analysed as this is a specialised work <strong>and</strong><br />

rates can be obtained from firms having specialisation <strong>for</strong> design <strong>and</strong> installation <strong>of</strong> this work.<br />

6 For metal beam crash barrier, a 'W' shaped beam <strong>of</strong> size 311 x 83 mm flange width made with<br />

structural steel corrugated plate 3 mm thick <strong>and</strong> having a length <strong>of</strong> 4.5 m has been provided, over a<br />

channel post <strong>of</strong> 150 x 75 x 5 mm with a spacer <strong>of</strong> channel section 150 x 75 x 5 mm, 330 mm long.<br />

7 Printing <strong>of</strong> letters <strong>and</strong> signs is required to be measured <strong>and</strong> paid separately. A separate rate <strong>for</strong><br />

lettering has been prepared <strong>and</strong> included in this chapter <strong>for</strong> this purpose.<br />

8 Two support have been provided <strong>for</strong> direction <strong>and</strong> place identification signs where size is more than<br />

0.9 sqm. Only one support is provided <strong>for</strong> size upto 0.9 sqm.<br />

9 The traffic signs proposed are <strong>of</strong> retro-reflectorised type made <strong>of</strong> encapsulated lens type reflective<br />

sheeting fixed over almunium sheeting as per Clause 801.3 <strong>and</strong> installation.<br />

10 The size, location <strong>of</strong> traffic signs shall be as per IRC:67.<br />

11 The rates <strong>for</strong> rigid, semi-regid <strong>and</strong> flexible crash barriershave been included.<br />

12 Provision has been made <strong>for</strong> a crance <strong>for</strong> installation <strong>of</strong> overhead signs.<br />

13 Separate rates have been derived <strong>for</strong> Tubular steel railing with RCC posts <strong>and</strong> MS steel posts.<br />

14 The <strong>org</strong>anisation <strong>and</strong> financial aspects are required to be finalised in consultation with administrative<br />

<strong>and</strong> traffic authorities.<br />

15 The rate <strong>for</strong> message display board <strong>for</strong> gantry mounted variable message sign is required to be<br />

ascertained from the market, this being a commercially produced item by specialised firms.
