Comments: The maternal line on my father's side, I can trace no further at this point than<br />
Margaret Buchan, born 1819 in Aberdeenshire Scotland. She immigrated to Ohio to marry a man<br />
that had preceded her from Moreyshire Scotland. They moved to Mo., Ill. and Ia. where she died<br />
in 1897. She had eight children. My ggrandmother, Harriet Ingram, the youngest girl was born in<br />
Ill. in 1858 and died in Iowa in 1945. My grandmother, Bessee Lesan, was born in Ia. or Mo. in<br />
1885 and died in 1958 in Ia. The Y DNA on the paternal side tested R1B1C and comes from the<br />
Alsace/Lorraine area, now part of France--ancestors who immigrated in the late 1840's and early<br />
50's en masse through Ohio and Ill. and ended up as original European settlers in Ringgold<br />
County, Ia. They were Saltzmans, Mosiers and Eglys from the Amish/Mennonite community.<br />
Neither DNA result was a surprise.<br />
