Comments: Maria Klara Tresch, b. abt 1800, Canton Uri Switzerland. My Grandmother's family<br />

goes back to the late 1500s/early 1600s in this valley (Reuss Valley) in Switzerland. I have not<br />

finished the research on the maternal line. I think this is an old line in this area, that was fairly<br />

isolated until modern times. Families intermarried quite a bit. It is through this valley that<br />

travelers go to get to the St. Gotthard Pass. The tunnel through the Gotthard wasn't built until the<br />

1870s.<br />
