we pursued the testing. There was rumor that our ancestors were Jewish and we did grow up with
some typical Jewish traditions but we grew up as Catholics. Most of my sisters have felt strongly
that they are of Jewish descent or relate to that particular belief system stongly. It has been a
much disputed subject so the testing was also done to settle the issue, however it managed to make
it more possible than inpossible since our test results reveal that we are likely of Ashkenazi
ancestry. My sisters blindly believe, my brother strongly disputes, but I decided first to turn to
science to prove or disprove it. It is a silly dispute anyway, knowing does not change who or what
we are.
Comments: Earliest known maternal ancestor, Mary BUSH, was born in Kentucky in the mid-
18th century, presumably with English or Scots-Irish origins. Henry RUNYAN of Hamilton Co.,
OH, married in Harrison Co. (W)VA, 11 Oct. 1784, Mary (BUSH) HAGLE, widow of Michael
HAGLE. Mary was the widow of Michael Hagle as found in Harrison Co., VA, deeds. The deeds
also show that Henry, Mary, and her son John Hagle, were of Hamilton Co., OH, when they sold
land in Harrison Co. Mary's surname was very likely Bush, and perhaps she was the dau. of
George and Mary (-) Bush of Harrison Co., VA. They had a son Isaac RUNYAN who was b. (per
census) KY, 1793 and d Hamilton Co., OH, 1882. He md Jane NIXON in 1813.
Comments: My grandmother's maiden name was Locke she was born in Randolph Co. Indiana.
Her mother's maiden name was Pierson and her mother's name was Mann. That is back as far as
I know with that line. I know my grandmother's family came from somewhere in England on her
father's side. but on her mother's side I am unsure. I know the DNA results showed the
haplogroup to be H.
