TRANSLATION HIGHLIGHTS<br />
Returning to the material universe, <strong>Peter</strong> instructs his readers that the day of the Lord will<br />
come at the end of the millennium (Predictive Future tense) as a thief, taking you <strong>by</strong><br />
surprise. The “day of the Lord” is a technical term for a specific period of time ordained<br />
<strong>by</strong> God. During this dramatic time, the heavens will be dissolved (Predictive Future<br />
tense) with a loud, roaring noise such as that which accompanies nuclear-type<br />
destruction. The plural “heavens” begins with the earth’s atmosphere, but extends to the<br />
