Greetings United I.S.D. employees,
We have made it to the end
of another busy and productive
school year. I must start by saying
that I am continually proud to
represent the United Independent
School District. Our employees
do a phenomenal job of providing
education and guidance to all
our students. I was pleased
to attend the commencement
ceremonies for all four of our
high schools. It was especially
gratifying to see the smiles of
our 2,600 graduating seniors and
their families as we celebrated
academic success together. I am
proud of what we as a District are
helping our students accomplish.
I wish our graduates luck as they
proceed to the next level, whether
it be continuing their education,
entering the workforce or pursuing
the opportunity to serve in our
armed forces. I humbly thank our
employees for contributing to the
success of not only our students,
but to our District and community
as well.

On another note, great strides
were made by United I.S.D.
students who took the STAAR test
for the very first time. I applaud
the efforts of our teachers and
faculty who earnestly prepared
students for the new state
mandated test. We have received
preliminary results of the STAAR/
EOC testing for all students. These
early results allow us to begin the
task of improving, modifying and
adjusting where necessary in the
different subject areas.
While some employees are
taking extra time off during the
summer, there are others who have
already begun making preparations
for the 2012-2013 school year.
The next couple of months will
give us all an opportunity to,
reflect, reenergize, and enjoy our
families. Whether you travel or
stay home and unwind, I wish each
one of you a safe, healthy, and
happy summer.
