As the Qurlan states. concerning, the permitted. number <strong>of</strong> wives:<br />
I'marry women <strong>of</strong> your choice, two or three or four. " 1<br />
4. Getting married to a woman during her interim period (the, waiting<br />
period after her divorce or. husband's death).<br />
If a man wants to marry a woman, whether that woman has been<br />
divorced by a former husband or that former husband has died, then the<br />
new man must wait until the interim period <strong>of</strong> that woman is over. The<br />
idea behind that is to avoid any doubts about lineage, and to<br />
give that woman a chance to rejoin her former husband before the interim<br />
period is over.<br />
5. Getting married to a woman who has no religion : Islam forbids a man<br />
to get married to a woman who does not believe in a divine religion.<br />
By a divine religion, is meant a religion that has a book revealed to a<br />
Prophet who has been commanded <strong>of</strong> God to call his pe-ople to that<br />
religion. It is forbidden to marry an unbeliever. as the Qurlan<br />
emphasises that in this verse:<br />
"Do not marry unbelieving women (idolaters), until<br />
they believe :A slave woman who believes is better<br />
than an unbelieving woman, even though she allures you. " 2<br />
Ibn Abbas said: if a Christian woman embraces Islam before her<br />
husband by a short while, she will by no means remain as his wife<br />
legally.<br />
