Her attitude reveals a fully mature personality imbued with wisdom.<br />

She took him to the house. <strong>of</strong> her cousin Warqa bin Nawful who embraced<br />

Christianity in the pre-Islamic period. They rejoiced and announced him<br />

as the expected Prophet.<br />

Khaiija held a special position as the first to believe in<br />

Muhammad's message; she was a continual help to him. It was written,<br />

'God soothes the Prophet's nerves by her presence. She did not let him<br />

hear the words <strong>of</strong> his opponents that he detested or those who disbelieve<br />

him. Indeed, ' God released him from his sufferings by her presence.<br />

When he returned to her, she used to ease him, soothe his nerves, and<br />

approve <strong>of</strong> his words. ' 2<br />

She had at least four children by him. 3 She stood by her<br />

husband until, she died three years before Hijra. having received<br />

special recognition from God, who ordained his Prophet through Jibril<br />

to send her his greetings.<br />

a woman except Khadijah and the Prophet did not marry me until she<br />

died. ' Aisha once burst out that Khadijah was a 'toothless old<br />

woman whom Allah has replaced with a better. ' The Prophet's sharp<br />

rebuke is a fervent testimony to his first wife : 'No indeed. Allah<br />

has not replaced her with a better. She believed in me when I was<br />

rejected. When they called me a liar. she proclaimed me truthful.<br />

When I was poor, she shared with me her wealth, and Allah granted me<br />

her children though withholding those <strong>of</strong> other women. '<br />
