staff at <strong>NUSS</strong> have once<br />

again proven themselves<br />

and were honoured<br />

<strong>with</strong> four Silver Awards,<br />

four Gold Awards and a<br />

Star Award for outstanding service<br />

performances in the food and<br />

beverage (F&B) industry.<br />

Such triumphant results reflected<br />

the level of professionalism at the<br />

Society’s F&B outlets, particularly<br />

<strong>from</strong> KRGH and SCGH.<br />

Kuttan Nair who won the Star<br />

Award shared his excitement about<br />

the win, “I had put in lots of effort<br />

<strong>to</strong> achieve this award and was very<br />

happy when I got it. I am proud of<br />

this achievement and would like <strong>to</strong><br />

thank my Operations Direc<strong>to</strong>r, Mr<br />

Sasidharan Pillai, and Café Manager,<br />

Mr PS Nathan, both of whom have<br />

patiently men<strong>to</strong>red me and been a<br />

great example in this journey <strong>to</strong>wards<br />

attaining excellence.”<br />

Eric Tang on his Gold Award win<br />

said, “I feel very honoured <strong>to</strong> receive<br />

the award. I believe my patience<br />

and desire <strong>to</strong> meet members’ needs<br />

attributed <strong>to</strong> my service attitude.<br />

Seeing satisfaction on our members’<br />

faces propelled me <strong>to</strong> provide excellent<br />

service and I credit my success <strong>to</strong> my<br />

fellow colleagues as well.”<br />

Candy Hong, a Silver Award<br />

winner, gave thanks <strong>to</strong> the crew at<br />

<strong>The</strong> Scholar who inspired her <strong>to</strong><br />

scale greater heights, “I am happy <strong>to</strong><br />

receive this award as it is recognition<br />

not just <strong>to</strong> me, but <strong>to</strong> the entire<br />

service crew at <strong>The</strong> Scholar as well.<br />

It is rewarding that our efforts <strong>to</strong><br />

excel in our service is appreciated. I<br />

believe that the cus<strong>to</strong>mer is king and<br />

this belief has been the driving force<br />

behind my team and I <strong>to</strong> excel in<br />

our service standards. I am grateful<br />

<strong>to</strong> my men<strong>to</strong>r, Ms Pauline Teng, our<br />

Restaurant Manager, for guiding me.”<br />

Launched in 1994, the EXSA is<br />

a national award that recognises<br />

individuals who have delivered quality<br />

service. Managed by seven industry<br />

lead bodies, it seeks <strong>to</strong> develop service<br />

models for staff <strong>to</strong> emulate, and <strong>to</strong><br />

create service champions.<br />

<strong>The</strong> winning service staff were<br />

selected based on the number of<br />

compliments <strong>from</strong> members who<br />

patronised the various F&B outlets<br />

over a given period of time. <strong>The</strong><br />

qualifying period was 1 April 2011 <strong>to</strong><br />

31 March 2012.<br />
