It’s the <strong>NUSS</strong> Experience<br />
that Counts<br />
new members were welcomed in<strong>to</strong> the nUSS family at the new Members’ night<br />
as they began their journey of experiencing the best of nUSS.<br />
<strong>The</strong> atmosphere for an<br />
intimate evening was set<br />
as new members engaged<br />
in conversation and<br />
networking while enjoying<br />
the delicious buffet.<br />
Associate Professor Lau Geok<br />
<strong>The</strong>ng, Chairman of the Membership<br />
Sub-Committee remarked, “We hope<br />
that the new members felt welcomed<br />
in<strong>to</strong> the Society during the event and<br />
will come <strong>to</strong> enjoy and be involved<br />
in the many activities we have. <strong>The</strong><br />
good turnout by the Management<br />
Committee members shows that<br />
they consider the new members<br />
as important and wish <strong>to</strong> see them<br />
experience being a part of the Society,<br />
its vision and activities.”<br />
A/Prof Lau also encouraged them<br />
<strong>to</strong> meet other fellow members and<br />
form a core group of ‘buddies’ whom<br />
they will meet often <strong>to</strong> experience<br />
and enjoy <strong>NUSS</strong> facilities and<br />
activities <strong>to</strong>gether.<br />
New member Mr Varun Manocha,<br />
an engineer, commented, “It feels<br />
great <strong>to</strong> be a member. I really look<br />
forward <strong>to</strong> meeting new people and<br />
“I visited the guild<br />
house <strong>to</strong> take a<br />
<strong>to</strong>ur of the facilities<br />
and once I had<br />
taken a look, I was<br />
convinced it was<br />
worth it and signed<br />
up on the<br />
spot.”<br />

also signing up for different section<br />
groups and workshops offered by<br />
<strong>NUSS</strong>. I heard about the <strong>NUSS</strong><br />
membership during my graduation<br />
fair. A year later, a friend of mine<br />
signed up and <strong>to</strong>ld me about all<br />
the perks that <strong>NUSS</strong> offers <strong>to</strong> new<br />
members. I visited the guild house <strong>to</strong><br />
take a <strong>to</strong>ur of the facilities and once<br />
I had taken a look, I was convinced<br />
it was worth it and signed up on<br />
the spot.”<br />
Mr Aakaash Singh, another new<br />
member and a technical analyst,<br />
shared, “I am already enjoying the<br />

new facilities and they have given me<br />
an opportunity <strong>to</strong> meet new people.<br />
It feels great <strong>to</strong> hit the gym and<br />
swimming pool after a <strong>to</strong>ugh day at<br />
work. I had visited <strong>NUSS</strong> as a student<br />
previously and was quite impressed<br />
by the facilities.”<br />
<strong>The</strong> new members and guests<br />
were welcomed <strong>with</strong> an acoustic<br />
performance by two MC members<br />
and a lucky draw <strong>with</strong> one of the<br />
coveted prizes being the new iPad —<br />
a nice start <strong>to</strong> the many experiences<br />
which new members have waiting for<br />
them in the future.<br />
