Jenny Light
My time at Amersham started when it was called The Radiochemical
Centre in the late 1960s. After having a break to have children
I returned and continued until it became Amersham International
and joined the excitement of buying shares in the newly launched
company.
I always worked in the development of in vitro medical diagnostic test
development and saw the move from the radioactive label originally
used to the chemi-luminescent system which saw us seeking
partnership with Kodak. This also saw us being moved to Pollards
Wood and eventually being sold off to Kodak who then sold us to
J&J when OCD was created. We all loved our time at Pollards Wood
and have great memories of the parties we held in the House and
grounds. By the end of my time there, I had moved into the Research
Group and enjoyed liaising with the university research teams in
various places. I was there to the end of OCDs occupation of Pollards
Wood when a large number of us were made redundant when the
R&D was transferred to the US.
At this point I took early retirement and have since enjoyed becoming
a grandparent, a great joy to my husband Derek and I. We have also
indulged our passion for travel and continue to try and explore as
much of the world as we can afford and have the energy for.
too much !
Andy Bertera
I would have been great to have attended this reunion, but as
it is unlikely that I will be in the UK at this time, I will have to decline.
However, I will keep the date on my calendar should something change.
Please say “hello” to everyone! Best regards, Andy.
Anne Jones
Would have loved to go but the date does not work for me, sorry!
Bill Castell
I was delighted to learn of the Amersham reunion at Latimer. If I had
been in the UK I would have attended like a shot. As it happens I
am visiting Dr Avijit Lahiri in Cyprus on a trip that has been planned
for over a year. Dr Lahiri was responsible for organising the Myoview
trials which gained us successful registration in Japan and Europe in
1994 and in the USA in 1996. Amersham has a lot to thank Dr Lahiri
for and I am delighted that he and I continue as good friends as well
as him being my personal expert cardiologist! Whomever decides to
hold another Amersham reunion may I suggest we have a date at least
a year in advance. I look forward to receiving reports on the success
of the meeting and I am delighted that some of our long term R&D
investments are starting to shine within GE Healthcare.
Everyone unable to attend
As much as I’d love to be there and meet with some old colleagues,
I regret that I have a prior engagement here in sunny Wales. However,
I appreciate the mail and I hope that you have a truly great evening.
Delphine Sifflet
Thanks Lynne for the kind invite. I am not able to join because I am
going to a wedding that week but it looks like an excellent opportunity
to meet people from the old time!
Dennis Harris
Hi guys Good luck with the event! I wish I could be there but it’s a long
trek from the Bay Area Best Dennis
Elisabetta Puletti
It’s a great idea. Unfortunately, I can’t make it due to another
commitment. However, I bet it will be successful and you will organise
one next year that I can come to?
Fraser Black
Unfortunately, once again business trumps pleasure. I need to travel
to the US on the week of the reunion and won’t be back in time. I am
more than a little disappointed but I am sure it will be a huge success.
I am quite green with envy.
Firman Ghouze
Unfortunately I won’t be able to make it since I am in the US. Great idea
though – I am sure it will be a very successful evening. Best Firman.
As I’m living now in Chiang Mai,
Northern Thailand, Latimer isn’t
just around the corner. At the same
time I have to breed up the next
generation of Frogs and Tilapi fish.
Really liked to make it and to see all
the old friends again. Could you be
so kind to pass through to them my
warmest regards and that they shall drink
a few Beer and Single malts for me too.
With best regards Herbert
Jackie Evans
reunion is a fabulous idea and I hope that
everyone has a wonderful time.
John Kleijne
Thanks so much for the invitation and actually
I already transferred the money bc I assumed
I could participate in the reunion. Would have
been so great. Right after I transferred the
money, I was told that the 10th of June we are
off on vacation for a week in Greece! Exactly
on the 10th!!! So unfortunately I can’t make it.
I’m sure you will have a great reunion anyway
but I’m really sorry I have to miss it!
Kevin Daish
Many thanks for remembering and inviting me to the reunion. If I was in
the UK I most definitely would have come, however, that is not the case
being now living in Auckland and I will not be in the UK at that time.
Please can you take lots of pictures of everyone on the night and put
them maybe on flicker so we can all see what we are missing.
Kevin Kissane
Sorry to miss this. Hope everyone has a great time! Kevin
Lena Jonsson
10th is the day that school finishes here for my boys and the 11th I have
be able to get to the reunion in there. Have a glass of wine for me.
I am sorry, but I cannot make it. Have to be in Sweden at that time.
Best regards Lars Eric
I hadn’t heard about the reunion so was really pleased to get the
wishes to all for a very enjoyable event. Roger p.s. If you see Cluffy, I
Steve Becker
Thanks for the invite. This sounds like a super event and an even
better idea. I will have to check my travel calendar. Currently, my job
does not take me to the EU, but we just got bought by Quest, so that
may change.
Sue Siegel
Yes, I was very interested in attending and was trying to register.
However, dates are posing problematic. I’m going to try to figure it out,
but it might not be possible. Thanks so much for organizing. I have
the best of memories of my Amersham days and the people I had the
privilege of working with!
Tom Naven
