fusiform, unitunicate, 72-120 X 17-22 u . As cospores 2-celled, hyaline,
with slime spin es around the median septum and with terminal beaks
with veil , 48-52 X 8-9 f.1 (including beaks) (Fig. 3i).
The species is common on driftwood at the base of the dunes and
in gullies, and can be found in crevices in wood recently washed
ashore. Fruit body formation is often considerable on recent drift ­
woo d stored in a humid chamber.

Perithecia about 0.25 mm in diameter, subglobose to globose, with
sh ort beak, crustaceous, black. On sand grains and shelIs in shipworm
galleries and in sand attached to wood, rarely on t he wood itself. Asci
8-spored (KOHLMEYER & KOHLMEYER 1964-69), clavate, fusiform,
unitunicate, 60-64 X 19-23 u . Ascospores 2-celled, hyaline, 26-32 X
8-10 u , with 3 stiff terminal appendages at each end. (Fig.3j).
Common at the base of the dunes, in the gullies, and not uncommonly
in shipworm galleries and crevices in driftwood of recent
origin.
