Of the collections recorded below only two possess long terminal<br />

appendages r esembling the type (12.10.69 (68-140 p) and 11.2.69<br />

(24-92 p)). All collections have short, lateral appendages. KOHLMEYER<br />

(1963) and SCHAUMANN (1969) have reported similar collections which<br />

differed from the type by having rather short terminal appendages.<br />

Halosphaeriaceae<br />

Lit. : Nova Hedwigia 6: 307-309, 1963.<br />

Perithecia about 0.25 mm in diameter, dark, with beak, immersed.<br />

Asci 8-spored, clavate, unitunicate with apical plate, 92-100 X 12-14 p.<br />

With paraphyses. Ascospores 4-celled, hyaline, with slime spines<br />

around the median septum, 24-29 X 6-8 p (Fig.3f).<br />

Rare, only one collection from wood (Palmae) at water's edge.<br />

7. Corollospora comata (KOHLM.) KOHU"r.<br />

Perithecia about 0.5 mm in diameter, subglobose, dark, only<br />

seldomly with short beak, on the surfaee of wood or occasionally<br />

immersed. Asci 8-spored, broadly clavate, unitunicate, 104-152 X<br />

28-36 p . Ascospores normally with 5 septa, with brown and violet<br />

tinges, terminal cells hyaline, 44-55 X 13-16 p, with lateral and terminal<br />

slime spines (Fig.3g).
