in the show hall and is done by authorised persons. They reserve the right to expel from the site<br />

Rules<br />

1 Entries will be accepted only from members of the <strong>British</strong> <strong>Cactus</strong> and <strong>Succulent</strong> <strong>Society</strong>.<br />

2 There is no limit to the number of entries per class, the entries being free. Entries must be<br />

made on the official form and sent to:<br />

Mr J M Stansbie, 76 Bransford Avenue, Coventry, CV4 7EB.<br />

Entries must reach Mr Stansbie not later than 9 August 2012.<br />

WITHOUT EXCEPTION, NO ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER THAT DATE.<br />

3 In classes 132, 133 and 134, entries will only be accepted from Junior members of the <strong>Society</strong>.<br />

4 The Judges are permitted to exhibit in classes other than those they are judging, at the<br />

discretion of the National Show Committee.<br />

5 The Judges may, at their discretion, withhold any award in any class where they consider<br />

the standard of the exhibits to be too low.<br />

6 Judging will be in accordance with the Rules and Recommendations as laid down in the<br />

BCSS Handbook of Shows 9th Edition.<br />

7 The classification of plants shall, for the purposes of this show, be that given in the Handbook.<br />

8 Subject to rule 5 minimum prize-monies in classes 1–134 will be as follows:<br />

1st Prize £7<br />

2nd Prize £5<br />

3rd Prize £3<br />

9 Gold Medals and National Diplomas will be awarded by a panel of Judges. All Awards and<br />

<strong>Society</strong> Trophies, where appropriate (see page 14), will be awarded on the basis of points<br />

allocated as follows:<br />

1st 5 points<br />

2nd 4 points<br />

3rd 3 points<br />

Highly Commended 2 points<br />

Commended 1 point<br />

10 Any objection to the judging must be submitted in writing to the Show Secretary,<br />

accompanied by a fee of £10, before 1.30 pm on 18 August 2012. The fee will be returned<br />

if your objection is upheld.<br />

11 All entries must be staged by 10.15 am on 18 August 2012. The placing of entries on the<br />

benches will be under the directions of the stewards appointed by the National Show<br />

Committee. By 10.30 am on the day of the show all exhibitors must leave the show hall.<br />

During judging only persons authorised by the National Show Committee will be present.<br />

12 Plants must be the property of the exhibitor.<br />

13 Exhibits may not be removed from the show bench on the day of the show until authorised<br />

by the Show Manager. This will not be before 4.30 pm and may be later but the hall must<br />

be cleared by 5.30 pm.<br />

14 The National Show Committee accepts no responsibility for the safety of plants or other<br />

personal property. All reasonable precautions against theft and damage will be taken, but<br />

all exhibits will be staged at their owner’s risk.<br />

15 Entry in the Show constitutes acceptance of the rules.

129 A Thematic Exhibit of Cacti and/or <strong>Succulent</strong>s in a space 610mm x 610mm.<br />

Each entry for this class will consist of a number of plants in separate pots, illustrating<br />

a theme, which may be geographical or botanical. Each entry will include a card on which<br />

the title is clearly written together with any additional explanatory information. This class<br />

will be judged as a collection.<br />

130 Collection of Cacti or <strong>Succulent</strong>s from any One Group in a space 610mm x 610mm.<br />

131 Collection of four Cacti and four <strong>Succulent</strong>s, 140mm pot limit, from different genera, in<br />

separate pots.<br />

Awards and Trophies<br />

A BCSS National Diploma and a Gold Medal will be awarded to the Best <strong>Cactus</strong> and to the<br />

Best <strong>Succulent</strong> in the show.<br />

BCSS Gold Medals will be awarded to other plants of outstanding quality.<br />

A Keith Grantham Silver Medal will be awarded to the exhibitor gaining the most points in<br />

Classes 1 to 58 and to the exhibitor gaining most points in Classes 59 to 128.<br />

The following perpetual challenge trophies will be awarded.<br />

The Inglewood Cup Most points in classes 25 & 26<br />

J H V Hampshire Memorial Cup Most points in classes 35 & 36<br />

DIRECTIONS<br />

The Wood Green Animal Shelter is on the A1198 and just off the A14 near Huntingdon,<br />

Cambs. Approaching from either the A14 north (A1/M1) or the A14 at Huntingdon, it is<br />

approximately 1.5 miles from the A14 and is signed at the A14 for Wood Green Animal<br />

Centre/Godmanchester, A1198. The Wind Turbine, which is at the site, can be seen clearly<br />

from the A14 from either direction.<br />
