Volunteer<br />
Appreciation Mass<br />
In an effort to recognize all of the time, talent and treasure that<br />
volunteers donate to their <strong>Church</strong>, in this Year of Faith, Bishop<br />
Frank J. Dewane invites ALL VOLUNTEERS throughout the<br />
Diocese of Venice to share in the celebration of Mass with him<br />
so he may express his appreciation and thanks for service.<br />
The Mass for volunteers in Lee and Collier counties will be<br />
held Tuesday, <strong>March</strong> 5 at Our Lady of Light Parish in<br />
Estero. All volunteers are encouraged to attend this event.<br />
This important Mass provides a "thank you" and formal sign<br />
of appreciation for the volunteers of our parishes and those<br />
throughout the Diocese. Mass will be celebrated at 4:30 p.m.<br />
and will be followed by a reception in the parish hall.<br />

O ur Religious Library, located<br />
off the hallway in the Activity<br />
Building, has available many<br />
full bookcases where you can select<br />
materials for your faith and spiritual<br />
enrichment. Just take a book, and<br />
return it at your convenience. There<br />
is no need to check it out. We welcome<br />
donations of <strong>Catholic</strong> religious<br />
books; just leave them on the desk<br />
in the library.<br />

Lenten Observations<br />
An additional weekday Mass will be<br />
celebrated Monday-Friday at 12 noon.<br />
The <strong>St</strong>ations with Mary the Mother of Jesus<br />
will be prayed every Friday after the 8 am Mass<br />
in the <strong>Church</strong>.<br />
Traditional <strong>St</strong>ations of the Cross will be<br />
prayed every Friday in the <strong>Church</strong> at 3 pm.<br />
Throughout the Diocese of Venice churches<br />
will be celebrating the Sacrament of Reconciliation<br />
on Fridays from 5-7 pm and Saturday from<br />
9-11 am. A communal Penance service will also<br />
be celebrated on <strong>March</strong> 13 at 6:30pm.<br />
A Lenten Parish Mission will be held <strong>March</strong><br />
9-12 by Rev. Michael Monshau from the Pontifical<br />
University of <strong>St</strong>. Thomas Aquinas in Rome.<br />

Regulations on Fasting and Abstinence<br />
Ash Wednesday, February 13, <strong>2013</strong> and Good<br />
Friday, <strong>March</strong> 29, <strong>2013</strong> are days of fast and<br />
abstinence. All Fridays of Lent are days of<br />
abstinence.<br />
Fasting is to be observed on Ash Wednesday and<br />
Good Friday by all <strong>Catholic</strong>s between the ages of<br />
18 years and 59 years (inclusive). On a fast day<br />
one full meal is allowed. Two smaller meals,<br />
sufficient to maintain strength, may be taken<br />
according to each one’s needs, but together they<br />
should not equal another full meal. Eating<br />
between in not permitted, but liquids are allowed.<br />
Abstinence from meat is to be observed by all<br />
<strong>Catholic</strong>s who are 14 years of age and older.<br />
Ash Wednesday and all the Fridays of Lent<br />
(and Good Friday) are days of abstinence.<br />
Note: if a person is unable to observe the above<br />
regulations due to ill health or other serious<br />
reasons, they are urged to practice other forms of<br />
self-denial that are suitable to their condition.<br />

The Ladies of <strong>St</strong>. <strong>Leo</strong> will be<br />
serving Coffee and Donuts<br />
on Sundays after the<br />
9:30am Mass in the<br />
Activities Building.
