Easter Sermon Ideas #3
Products Of The Resurrection
Arthur Petrie
Introduction: The resurrection of Christ meant a new beginning and a new radiant joy. It produced some of the
best blessings now enjoyed by His believing followers.
1. Pardon
a. “Christ was delivered for our offenses, and was raised again for our justification” (Rom. 4:25).
b. Justification means a pardon, a full acquittal, and this is something better than forgiveness. It
declares we are just. Paul says the living Christ is our justification (Rom. 8:33, 34).
2. Peace
a. The risen Christ spoke peace to the disciples (Jojn 20:19).
b. He made peace for us by the blood of His Cross (Colossians 1:20).
3. Purity
a. “As Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in
newness of life” (Romans 6:4).
b. Through union with the risen Christ we are set free from the dominion of sin (Rom. 6:14). The risen
life bears “fruit unto holiness” (Romans 6:22).
4. Power
a. Paul prayed that he might know Christ in “the power of his resurrection” (Phil. 3:10).
b. He also prayed that the believers know “what is the exceeding greatness of His power to us-ward
who believe, according to the working of His mighty power, which wrought in Christ, when He
raised Him from the dead” (Ephesians 1:19, 20).
5. Presence
a. Before the Ascension the resurrected Christ said, “Lo, I am with you always” (Matt. 28:20).
a. Sometime after the Ascension, Resurrected Christ said to Paul, “Be not afraid, but speak, and hold
not thy peace: for I am with thee” (Acts18:9,10; 2Tim. 4:16, 17).
6. Privilege
a. We have a heavenly Bridegroom. We are set free from the Law and joined to the resurrected Christ
(Romans 7: 4).
b. We are honored to be raised and seated with the King of kings in heavenly places (Eph. 2:6;
Colossians 3:1-3).
7. Promise
a. We are promised a future existence. “He which raised u the Lord shall raise up us also by Jesus” (2
Corinthians 4:14).
b. We are promised eternal life. “Because I live, ye shall live also (John 14:19).
Conclusion: As the Crucifixion did not end the story of Christ, neither does the Resurrection. It is interesting &
instructive to note each Gospel has an ending peculiar to itself. Matthew ends with the Resurrection of Christ.
Mark ends with the ascension of Christ. Luke, with the promise of the Holy Spirit. John, about the 2 nd coming of
Christ. Beyond this life we have a Blessed Hope built on the Resurrection and promises of the Lord. The greater
part of life wtill lies ahead of each Christian believer…

Sermon From A Casket
N. Cleo Tapp
Text: Hebrews 11:22
Introduction: Review the story of Genesis 50:22-26. There is no mention of faith while Joseph was in exile, in
prison, in reunion with his family, or at his father’s death. His faith, like Abel’s, was to speak from his death.
1. A message of faith: “God will surely visit you.”
2. A message of separation: would not stay in Egypt, though deat.
3. A message of inspiration: “God will bring yu out of this land.” He inspired them to take the journey.
4. A message of resurrection: His expressed desire (not Egyptian embalming) indicated his ultimate
expectation.
Conclusion: What preparation are we making in view of the coming death and resurrection?
Why Is The Resurrection So Important?
W.J. Coleridge
Introduction: When the disciples preached, the resurrection of Christ was the great theme of their message.
There are 17 times in Acts where they are recorded as preaching the Resurrection. In his first letter to the
Corinthians Paul devoted much of his writing to the subject. So, why the resurrection so important?
1. It proves Christ’s deity.
a. His claims to deity aroused the anger of the Jews and caused them to crucify Him. “ and the Father
are one” (John 10:30). “He that hath seen me hath seen the Father” (John 14:9).
b. By raising Him from the dead, God confirmed Christ’s claims. “Declared to be the Son of God with
power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead” (Rom. 1:4).
2. It establishes the divine authority of His teaching.
a. He told them He would be crucified and would rise again the 3 rd day (Matthew 12:40).
b. His ability to predict the future proved His authority (John 13:19).
3. It Demonstrates the all-sufficiency of His work for us on the Cross.
a. In His dying moments Christ said, “It is finished”
b. God said “Amen”, and He accepted Christ’s sacrifice,..we are forgiven (Col.2:13).
4. It gives proof of our justification.
a. We are justified by His Resurrection (Rom. 5:1).
b. We are justified by our faith. At the Cross the debt was paid. There, the receipt was given
5. It assures us of our own resurrection.
a. The resurrection of Christ is a pledge and guarantee we too shall be raised (1 Corinthians 15:20).
b. At the return of the Lord “the dead in Christ shall rise first” (1 Thessalonians 4:16).
6. It means we have a Saviour who lives to keep us eternally.
a. A dead Christ could not save us or keep us safe (Hebrews 7:25).
b. A dead Christ could not serve as our Advocate with the Father (1 John 2:2).
Conclusion: The past work of Christ on the Cross made provision for our need of pardon. The present work of
Christ in heaven makes provision for our need of power. His finished work avails for our past sin. His unfinished
work deals with our present needs. His finished work takes away our guilt. His unfinished work takes
away our fears.
