Community response : After receiving the message on
Telephone, Fire Brigade and Police
arrived on the spot and with the help
of local administration called villagers
and social workers for handling the
emergency.
* Legal or procedural bottlenecks experienced in
managing the situations : The fire was in Rural area and
the fire station of M.C.Jalna is
situated in Jalna city. There is only
one fire station in entire Jalna
Dist. As per rules, to attend these
fire calls out of the jurisdiction ,
permission of the Chief
Officer/Collector is necessary which
takes time and hence the response to
the call was delayed.
* Lessons learnt : There are eight Talukas and four
Municipal Councils in the Jalna Dist.
But there is only one fire station of
Municipal Council, Jalna city which
is responsible for handling the fires
of entire district. The village
Rani Unchegaon where the fire
occurred is 50 K.M.away from Jalna
and as such it took more time to reach
spot. This delay ultimately caused
more financial loss.
