Annexure I : Case Studies of Disaster Episodes
*Type of episode : Flood in Badnapur taluka at Nanegan & other
village.
* Location : Nanegaon & other villages of taluka Badnapur.
* Date : 1st, 2nd & 3rd Sept. 92.
* Reason assigned for the events : Due to heavy rainfall the river Dudhana & its
tributaries Sukhana, villages on the banks were
affected.
*Warning system used : Yes, villagers were alerted by announcing the
occurrence of flood (Dawandi).
* Community response to warning : Yes, there was average response from the
community. system
• Administrative response for warning : Directive were received to convey the message
of system probable occurrence of flood by
making repeated announcement in the villages.
* Assessment of Administrative :As per the Dy. Collector (Planning ) Jalna Do
lr,
99/NA/dt.9.9.92. the Tahsildar Badnapur vide
his lr. dt.17.9.92. all revenue circle Inspector
were directed to do the spot panchanama of the
damages occurred due to flood.
* Area affected ( No, of village ) : There was 13 Nos. of villages affected namely
listed as below :
1) Kandari 2) Mandeulgaon 3) Chikhali 4)
Murumkheds 5) Khadeaon 6) Badnapur 7)
Wakulni 8) Deoogaon 9) Bazar Wahegaon 10)
Nokalka 1) Akola 12) Somthana 13) Nanagaon.
* Extent of damage : a- 1:- No. of lives lost:- Nil
a-2:- Crop damage:- type of crops & areas in
acres cropping 3.50 acres were damaged & 2
wells were damaged. Total damage
amounting Rs.45,000/-
.b) Damage to Houses : 1) Complete damage to houses-41 Nos.
2) Partly damage to Houses-261 Nos
Total amount of damage Rs. 1,69,400/-
c) Loss of cattle : One cow Rs. 4000/-
