* Type of episode : Floods in Partur Taluka (Golegaon & other<br />

villages.)<br />

* Location : Partur Taluka (Golegaon & other villages)<br />

* Date : 23rd & 24th July-1989<br />

* Reason assigned for the events : Due to heavy rainfall, The river Godavari &<br />

its tributaries were flooded. Hence 33<br />

villages on the banks were affected.<br />

* Warning system used : Yes As per the letter of Tahsildar Partur<br />

No.1989/Misc/ WS/dt.30.6.89 Red flags on high<br />

elevated trees were installed.<br />

* Community response on warning : Yes. There was good response from<br />

villagers.<br />

* Administrative response for warning : There was good response from<br />

Administrative authorities. People living<br />

in flood zone shifted to safe places well in<br />

advance.<br />

* Assessment of administrative preparedness : Administrative preparedness was quick<br />

& satisfactory.<br />
