2.7 Agriculture and Cropping Pattern In Jalna District
Section III : Risk Assessment Analysis
• The total geographical area of the district is 7,72,600 hectare out of which,
cultivable land is 6,76,600 hectare which is more than 88.00% of the total area.
• The district has a very high percentage of cultivable land. The area under Kharif crop
is 70% . The area under double cropping has steadily increased from 10% in 2007 &
15 % in 2011
• In Bhokardan and Jafrabad tahsils, there is lowest rainfall and therefore, the major
cropping season is Kharif, whereas in the rest of the district both Rabi and Kharif
agriculture is practiced.
• Bajra,maize and Wheat are the major cereals grown in the district. The area under
Cotton is also very extensive.
