• The total geographical area of the district is 7,718 sq Kms constituting
2.51% of the total State.
• Jalna is the largest Tahsil covering an area of 1,221 sq.Kms.
• The total population of the district according to the 2001 census is
16.13 lakhs which is 1.67% of the total population of the state.
• The rural population comprises of 80.91% while urban population
constitutes 19.09% of the total population .
• The male population is 51.26% while the female population is 48.73%.
• The human population is highest in Jalna Tahsil (354 persons/ Sq.
km) followed by Bhokardan Tahsil (213 persons/Sq.km.) and is least
in Ghansawangi (154 persons/Sq.km.).
• % of landless families of Jalna district is 27061 [9 %]. (as per DRDA,
Jalna and Dist. Statiscal Office, Jalna)
• % of Slum Population of Jalna District – Approximately 4.76 %
• Number of houseless families of the district is 62633 Nos. as per
gramsabha.
• Families below powerty line is 105188.
• Percentage of illiterates of the district is 35.60 %(As per 2001 census)
• Percentage of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe are 11.22 % and
3.88 % respectively.
